Thursday This n That

I don't understand the new style of tucking your shirt into the front of your pants and leaving it untucked in the back.  I've seen it on several shows now.  Erin does it on Hometown.  I think Jenny does it on Fixer to Fabulous.  Nancy Kerrigan (the figure skater) was wearing her shirt that way on Antiques Roadshow - Celebrity Edition.  Is it to cover your ass?  It seems like the mullet of fashion - business in the front, party in the back.   Not keen on it.  I leave the whole shirt untucked these days.  Cover the belly and the butt.

It occurs to me so many people are trying so hard to avoid death that they're no longer living.

Yesterday, I went out on the deck for a smoke and it looked like something had stolen one of my tomato plants.  I was thinking birds or a squirrel.  Then when I looked closer, I realized that tiny baby plant was laying flat in the dirt.  When I watered yesterday, I'd forgotten the tomatoes.  Derp.  I might have lost like four of them.  We'll see.  Someone local I follow on FB posted pictures of their tomatoes this morning.  They already have fruit!?  WTH?  My plants are only like 2-3 inches tall.

The latest in stupidity from our Impostor in Chief is that he's trying to ban menthol cigarettes.  Because menthols are racist and target black folk, or some stupid shit.  Legalize drugs, ban menthols.  I smoke menthols.  What a dipshit.  (And yes, I know it's not actually him because he can't think his way out of a paper bag.  He's merely the figurehead.  Universal dipshit and his dipshit handlers.)

Hey, did you hear Snow White is awful because the kiss of the prince that saves her wasn't consensual?  Can't make this stuff up, people.  I guess mouth-to-mouth resuscitation should be out shortly, too.  Dipshits.

In happier news, we had a bunny in our yard yesterday!  And a raccoon!  Spring is awesome.  Here's pic of the bunny after it hopped into the woods.  Can you find it?

In additional happy news, our black walnut trees are all starting to recover from the hard freeze that killed most of their new leaves.  Even the baby trees I was especially concerned about have new leaves.  Nature will find a way.  Yay.

My irises are blooming.  Yay!  And my lilies have buds.  Yay!

And on that note, I'll let you get back to your lives.  Have a great day, folks.  And try to find some happy amidst the chaos.  :hugs:

  1. Busy nature around your house. I wonder if your neighbor started with plants rather than seeds? Also, microclimates. I'm serious. It's like my yard is in it's only little space/time continuum. People down the street get daffodils a week or two before mine bloom. Same with wisteria, iris, redbuds, anything that blooms. Weird.

LG smokes menthol. He is NOT a happy camper. I think the tribes need to get into the tobacco business. Manufacture their own on tribal lands and sell in tribal smoke shops. Under the McGirt decision, I think it would fly.

Our weather is a ping-pong game. Warm one day. Cold front comes through and chilly the next. My allergies are confused. So is my body.

Made myself sniffle yesterday while writing. Today is the big reconnect scene. I hope it comes together. I'm at almost 80K but some of those words are notes and such so that will change.

Fixed street tacos for dinner last night. Cinco de Mayo, don'cha know. Added a little Cajun spice, some chili powder, a sprinkle of cinnamon and some water to the burger. Pretty tasty. Then onions, cilantro, and lime juice. Yum. LG slept through dinner. He has an ear infection and sore throat. When he didn't wake up when I called him, just let him sleep. There are leftovers so...street tacos tonight. Yay! FYI, he adds olives, cheese, salsa, and sour cream to his. I'm the "purist" in the family. 😋

Not much else going on around here. Baseball Boy's team is out of the state tournament so he no longer has practice after school. That means no more Stormy chauffeur duties for me on Thursdays. Ah well. He is coming to spend the night Saturday. Dang. That means I need to wash the bedding in the guest room. That's Jake's spot and it's not like he "bathes" regularly. 😛

On that note, time to actually get something done. Internet "water cooler" time is over. Enjoy your day!

  2. That shirt trend just looks messy and lazy to me. When I still had a figure, I always tucked my shirt in. Now it's loose all around to hide the tummy.

Yay for Bunny! We have hundreds of birds singing, but I haven't seen any other live critter around here lately.

Poor tomatoes, but yay for reviving trees! Sigh, yes, micro-climates. My squash are 2 or 3" tall. Mom's are 6 and 8" tall. I swear I water as much as she does! I'll pick up some composted manure next week and see if that perks them up.

I'm refinancing my house, and doing Mom's paperwork for her refi. Hers is going through smoothly, no hassles. Because I'm self-employed, mine is a nightmare: paper, paper, and more paper. And by the way, the paper I signed two weeks ago is now outdated. Plus I have to pay for a new survey. Can't wait until it's over!
