Rumor Has It is Live

Cross-posted from Outside the Box:

I did it.  I finally sat myself down and did the formatting and did the uploading and RUMOR HAS IT is live.  It's $2.99 and it's available through Kindle Unlimited for those of you who might have a subscription.  I already sold a book to someone who wasn't me.  Yay.  (I always buy the first book, so I can check how it looks on my actual Kindle.)

Sara Hughes is Dead.

Sara had plans to take her own life. The coroner claims she died in her sleep.  Her daughter fears she was murdered.  Once Duke Noble, P.I. confirms his suspicions, he's hot on the trail of a killer. But with so many likely suspects, who will get nabbed for the crime?  The bully who expects to inherit everything?  The spineless toady with the grasping wife?  The outrageous divorcĂ©e?  Duke's a guy ready to tackle anything the world throws at him, but this time, he's facing something much harder to dodge than bullets and fists… His past.

Thanks to everyone who helped make this happen.  :hugs:  You guys rock.

Now I have to update the back matter of all my books, which I'll do sometime today.  And I need to format this for paperback printing (and do all the other stuff involved in creating a paperback), which I'll do soon.

I've updated my blogs, including adding a new page to this blog for the series.  Which reminds me that I need to get to work on the next book.  (I'm already planning the cover.  Heh.)

Anyway, I'm kind of excited right now, can ya tell?  I hope you'll all be excited when you read it, too.

Release Day!

Unequal is out in the world now.  $2.99 for a limited time.  Get yours today.  =o)

We are all the same.  Equal.

In a world where being different is against the law, Rue Logan lives in fear of being branded Unequal and getting disappeared like so many others.  The Department of Equalization had other plans for her life, but she couldn’t let that stop her.  Now, she works her assigned job as a janitor by day and prowls the hospital’s corridors at night, saving lives.

Until she’s caught.

On the run from the DOE, Rue finds others like her, Unequals working in secret to achieve their goals and live their lives.  But their leader has a mission of his own.  With war brewing, both sides need her skills to help them win.  Torn between her own deeply held beliefs and her desire to save the people she’s come to love, Rue must find a way to stop the conflict before any more lives are lost.  Even if it means uncovering secrets and lies that could break her world apart.

Sunday Update - Week 50

Two more weeks to go before we put 2018 behind us.

My week was devoted to getting Unequal ready to publish.  Yesterday, I finished the last of the editing/polishing.  Did a couple hours in the morning and then worked from 2pm to 7pm with a short break for dinner, but I got it done.  Today will be formatting and uploading so it will be live tomorrow.  As promised.  (Unless Amazon delays it for some reason.  I have no control over that.)  I'm sure things aren't perfect.  They never are.  As I told Hubs last night, I could probably pick up any of my published novels and find things I would want to change, but at some point, I have to say 'enough'.

If there's anything in there that doesn't make sense or is flawed for some reason, the fault is entirely mine.  AWE tries to whip me into shape, but she doesn't always succeed.

Got the Goodreads listing up.  Go forth and Want to Read it, if you're so inclined.

I finished reading one book at the start of the week.  Didn't even bother to start anything else.

I got out in the woods and did some trail raking for about an hour.

Yesterday, during my morning break, I ran down to Wallyworld and picked up our Christmas present to ourselves - a carpet cleaner.  Walmart on the Saturday before the Saturday before Christmas is an interesting experience.  Especially since I did not get there as early as I usually do.  Whoa, Nelly.  It was very peopley out there.  But the cleaner we wanted was on sale, so I braved the peopley.  Our carpets will be cleaned by the end of the year.  (We both promised to not clean carpets until our work was done.)

Let's not even talk about activity or exercising.

Last night, after I had finished the typo-checking, and after a pot of coffee, I was WIRED.  Holy cow.  You coulda put me on a treadmill and powered Des Moines with the energy.  Then I crashed, which was good because I really needed sleep.

The plan for the rest of the year is to enter a vegetative state.  Unfortunately, I have spreadsheets to do and marketing stuff and a sale coming up and...  I'll vegetate sporadically.

How are things in your world?  Ready for the end of the year?  Ready for Christmas?  Ready to read Unequal?  ;o)

Sunday Update - Week Derp

The Big News is... SLEEPING UGLY IS LIVE!

Which means I edited my brains out last week.

Nothing much else went on.

:collapses:

Seriously, though, I busted my hump and I got it out on the 18th like I said I would.  I still haven't gotten links up in all the places, though.  I'll do that today.

I did little reading.  I only really got one day of active in and that was yesterday morning when I couldn't look at another crutch word to save myself.  No fishing.  No gardening.  The house is a pigsty.  I've neglected Hubs and the cat.

But it's done.

Now, I have to format it for print and go over Unequal again to clean it up a bit for AWE.

I might even finish that book I was reading today.

What were you up to last week?

Oh, and the book is for sale at $2.99 or free with your Kindle Unlimited subscription.  Be warned: It's totally snarky.

Thursday This n That

First off, Early Grave went live last night, shortly after midnight.  I'm now working on updating all the things, but I'm coffee deficient as of yet.  If you see something that's not updated - like the sidebars or what have you - give me time.

Hubs crawled all over the roof cleaning gutters while I walked around on the ground making sure the drainage was correct (adjusting rocks under the downspouts for optimum flow and minimal erosion) and letting him know when the water ran clean.  It's a pain, but if we don't do it, the gutters get clogged and then they run over and make a mess and... Well, we just do it.  And yes, we have gutter screens to keep the majority of the crap out, but they still get crap in them.

He roof crawls because I get vertigo.  Otherwise, I'd love to crawl all over the roof and see the gnarly view we have from up there.

He also mowed the lawn yesterday while I worked on edits.  If I'd been mowing, EG would not have gone live last night, because I would've been too pooped to get anything else done.  He's so awesome.

I am once again under the 'push push push to get the book published, fall apart afterwards' thing.  Nothing's wrong with me, I'm just drained.  But I still have stuffs to do.  Hubs was all like 'now you can take a break' and I was all like 'ROFL'.  There's markety stuffs and updatey stuffs, posts and blogs and tweets, oh, my.  I have to make new bookmarks and postcards.  And there's the paperback formatting and cover creation.  No rest for the writerly.

The birds are sucking down the suet at about a brick a day, and since I make my own suet, that means I'm making a batch about every 4-5 days. The worst piggies are the crows and the jays.  Of course, the squirrels don't help.  I chase them off when I catch them hanging off the suet cage, but I can't be watching that damn thing all day.  I might break down and buy suet this week.

Okay, that's quite enough out of me again.  What have you got for me?

The Soft Launch and Other Blinky Things

Well, Blink went live yesterday.  (Read more and find buy links here.)  And it was what they call a 'soft launch'.  So soft, I don't think I could've disturbed crickets out there.  Launched amidst a boatload of distractions (you don't want to know and I don't want to talk about it), it was just set adrift on the currents yesterday and floated into the sea of other books for sale at Amazon.

This morning, I'm trying to catch up.  Do a little advertising on FB, etc.  Post some stuff to groups and junk.  Find new groups to post to because Blink isn't like anything I've already published.  I mean, it is in a way.  I wrote it, so it's got suspense and mystery and a little romance in there.  I can't not write stuff with those elements.  But it's also got... :drops to a whisper:... ideas.

I was reading the book description to Hubs this morning and gave myself shivers.  Idea shivers, not scary shivers.  Hooked Hubs, too, so it's all good.

Trust me, though, I've tried really hard to weave the ideas in and not beat you over the head with them.  I hate message-y books that club readers to death with their message.  I aimed for creating an interesting and enthralling story that might also make readers think a little.  If it makes them think a lot, awesome.  If it doesn't make them think at all, but they just enjoy the story, that's great, too.

It's a pretty large book.  It topped out at 101K words pre-formatting.  Amazon is saying the KU page count is 478.  I think it moves along at a pretty good pace, though, so it shouldn't take forever to read.  Time will tell what readers think.

Anyway, like I said, I haven't done much to promote this book yet, so I'm not expecting gangbuster sales any time soon.  As always, though, there's hope.

Now, I can take a break.  Not a huge one, since Early Grave is supposed to back from the editor next week, but a break nonetheless.  Maybe I'll finally finish reading a book this year.

Sunday Update - Week 37

Hi there.  Another week has rolled by.  Here's what happened...

Wish Hits the Fan is now live and available for your enjoyment.  Wish in One Hand is still free thru tomorrow.  In Deep Wish and Up Wish Creek are still 99c/.99p thru Thursday.  The hope is that people who picked up WIOH for free will want to purchase the other books shortly thereafter.  Anyway, the books have been selling together over the weekend so far, which is good.  And the ads seem to be doing their jobs and paying for themselves.  One more ad will go out tomorrow and Tuesday.  WIOH actually hit #34 on the Amazon free Paranormal/Urban Fantasy list Friday - an obscenely hard to reach list, btw.  So, it's a win.

I haven't done much of anything else with regard to writing or writerly pursuits - just marketing.

Still waiting on my paperback proof for WHTF.  I paid extra to get it here Friday.  It shipped Thursday.  Not sure what the hell, but if I don't see it tomorrow, I'm contacting Createspace.  Seriously.

I went fishing once last week.  Caught some panfish, but nothing worth writing about, hence no Saturday Fishing Report.  This coming week ain't looking any better.  Hot and sunny.  Bleh.

The reading has been going pretty good.  I actually read 5 books last week.  Three of those were by 'new to me' authors.  One had no stars on Amazon =o(.  Well, it has one review now.  It was pretty awesome, so if you're interested in YA paranormal, check out Bewitch Me by Amelia Blake.  Also, if you're into those kinds of books, Caught in Between by Allison L. Perry was amazing, too.

Bow season started here on Friday.  Crossing fingers none of our deer get culled.

Well, that's about all I have to say this morning.  I hope you all had an awesome week and will have a great week ahead of you.  :hugs:

Release Day is Finally Here!

Cross posted with Outside the Box...

When I first started writing the first genie book (Djinn-ocide... which would eventually become Wish Hits the Fan) back in September of 2009, I really had no idea where it would go.  I thought maybe I could make a series out of it someday and maybe it would land me an agent and a publishing contract.

LOL, well, we all know where that last part of the vision went, don't we?

I self-published Wish in One Hand in August of 2015.  A little over two years later, the fourth and final book in the Once Upon a Djinn series is available for the general public to read.  Yay!

I'm super stoked that all the books are together.  And I really I hope you all enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them.

Here they are...

Wish in One Hand

In Deep Wish

Up Wish Creek

Wish Hits the Fan

Not quite sure what's up next.  I'm going to enjoy this for a little while, I think.  All four books together.  Finally.

Whew.

Sunday Update - Week 14

This is the week that was...

I spent most of last week finishing up editing, then proofreading, then formatting Natural Causes.  I uploaded it to Amazon Friday evening and it was live by the time I went to bed.  Then I was so tired, I basically did a 'it's live' post because I couldn't muster the energy to really woohoo about it.  And it's my eighth book, so the shine has kind of gone off the apple.  Okay, that's not it.  But anyway, it's live and I hope y'all enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it.  I really do love Dennis and Jillian, and their supporting cast.  I'm just drained.

What else...  I read some stuff.  The Bridge Over the River Kwai, which kind of wasn't nearly as good as the movie.  Then I read a super cute mystery called In For a Penny, which is the first book in the Granny series, if that tells you anything.  Old lady sleuths crack me up.

I went fishing a couple times to give myself brain breaks from the pre-publication insanity.

I did some yard work.  Planted stuff.  Weeded stuff.  Moved stuff.  Crap, I just remembered that i forgot to water the gardens last night.  Derp.  Anyway, everything's looking good.  Unless I keep forgetting to water it.

I hid while the electric company came by and butchered err trimmed the trees away from the power lines.  They actually did less of a hack job in my yard than other places I've seen, probably because the first time they stopped I spoke with them, and then the morning before the whacking they stopped again and Hubs spoke with them.  They were very careful of my black cherry tree, but that poor elm.  We're hoping it survives.  It had to be done.  Limbs and electric lines are a hazardous mix.

That's it for me.  What's up with you?

Thursday This n That

I'm working through some shit right now, as you may have noticed from my Wanda Whiner posts or lack of posts altogether.  (Although I did better posting stuff at Outside the Box this week, so I've got that going for me.)  It's not personal stuff.  Personal stuff is awesome.  Work stuff blows.  And I'm back around to wondering why the hell I'm subjecting myself to this.  Don't worry.  This, too, shall pass.

News stuff, too, is depressing the hell out of me.  Which is why I go fishing.

One easy way to tell a spotted bass from a largemouth bass is to feel their tongues.  Spotted bass have rough tongues.  Largemouth bass have smooth tongues.  (Or so I read somewhere.  I have no personal experience with largemouth tongues yet.  Next one I catch, I'll feel its tongue, though, so I know for sure if that's right.  It's correct with the spotted.)

Yesterday, I saw an osprey.

Someone ran over a pygmy rattlesnake about 100 feet from the house.  Yay!  Well, yay for the squishing - those things are nasty - but boo for the proximity to my home.

Today is release day for my good friend, Silver James' novella Blood & Fire in the Kindle World of Paige Tyler's Dallas Fire & Rescue.  It's with her wolf shifters, so yay!  And it's only $1.99 right now.  I one-clicked a copy this morning.  Can't wait to read it.

Sometimes my fingers insert one homophone for another without consulting my brain.  I do know the difference between 'no' and 'know', and the 'they're there their' trio, and 'your, you're, yore', but my fingers aren't always certain.  If I slip up and use one where it doesn't belong, feel free to laugh at my fingers.  Maybe the shame will teach them to pay better attention.  ;o)

Okay, that's quite enough out of me this morning.  Anything in your 'this n that' basket today?

Sunday Update - Week ??

Last week was a blur for the most part.  Editing, proofreading, polishing, formatting and, ultimately, publishing Up Wish Creek.  From the time I was mentally alert in the morning until I could stand it no more before bed.  But it's done.  And it's out there in the world.  Yay.  Go here for all the buy links. All three of the Once Upon a Djinn books are 99 cents each thru today and maybe tomorrow - depending on whether I remember to change the price tonight.  Don't count on my forgetfulness, though.  Buy now.

All my fawns have lost their spots!  They all look like mini-me versions of the does.  This time of year always makes me a little sad.  My fawns are growing up.  :sniffle:

I went fishing yesterday.  I told myself early in the week that I would not go fishing until UWC was published, and you better believe the first chance I had after it went live, I was out there.  And it was nice and cool.  Of course, just after I walked down to my fishing spot, it started to rain.  You know, that little, pelting cold rain that, with the wind, stings a little.  And, boy howdy, was there wind.  Gusting wind blowing down at me from the north.  I could barely cast out.  But I did it.  So, there I was, standing on the bank, getting pelted with rain and buffeted by the wind, and loving every minute of it.  I caught three fat hog bluegills to bring home.  I also caught a couple small spotted bass.  And then, something strikes my hook.  The reel whines as I'm reeling this thing home.  It gets to within about 3 feet of me, where I can see it through the water.  It's a largemouth.  Looks keeper size.  Maybe a scosh bigger.  I see it.  It sees me.  It opens it's mouth wide, tosses its head, and throws the hook.  I swear the bastard laughed at me as it swam away.

Also, while I was watching my bobber, a huge pike decided to swim to the surface about 6 feet from me.  Gorgeous.  And a little scary.  My pretty pink rig is definitely not up to 'big pike' standards.  Plus, landing one by myself with no net... with all those teeth...  Lucky for me, he was on his way somewhere else.

So, that was my week.  How was yours?

Sunday Update - Week 19

Last week was devoted to two things: The Kid was here AND getting Fertile Ground ready for publication.

So, the Kid arrived a week ago yesterday.  We hung out, did some driving around, hung out some more, ate, chatted, shopped, etc.  I'd post pics of us together, but I forgot to get authorization from her to release her picture publicly, so you'll just have to imagine it.  I took her back to the airport on Friday and she had a problem-free trip home (which is a miracle when you're connecting through O'Hare.)  Good times were had by all, but it's also good to get back to normal.

Speaking of normal, I had to finish proofing and formatting Fertile Ground while she was here so I could keep my promise of releasing this on the 16th.  I did it.  It's done. If you find errors in it now, they were inserted by gremlins while I slept.  Anyway, I'll shout about release day pretty much everywhere tomorrow.

In case you missed it, I posted the first chapter of Fertile Ground on Friday - here and here.  Seems like people were sufficiently creeped out by the beginning, which is a good thing for a suspense novel.

I sent out a special edition of the newsletter last night with some stuff just for subscribers.  If you're not a subscriber, you missed out.  Easily rectified for next time. Just sign up for the newsletter.

Between getting ready for the Kid's arrival and getting FG ready for public consumption, my 'do something active every day' thing got derailed.  Not that I wasn't active almost every day, but not much of it was organized exercise.

I also haven't read any other writers' words lately.

We lost internet Friday afternoon, which had me totally freaking out.  It's hard to release a book without internet access.  Hard? Try impossible.  Anyway, I called the company and got some dude who said his name was Ramone but who sounded like a hack taxi-driver in a Bollywood movie.  He assured me there were no problems on their end, and proceeded to walk through testing my modem.  Twenty minutes later he tells me he was just informed that there was, in fact, a problem on their end and it would be resolved by 5:15 my time, and then guaranteed me I'd get a call when it was fixed.  Couple hours roll by and I notice the light on my modem is no longer flashing red, so I try the internet.  It's fixed.  No call.  D'oh.  They finally called around 6pm to tell us we had internet - by recorded message.

For the record, I don't have a problem outsourcing phone support to another country.  If it gets me stuff here cheaper, then more power to them.  I have a problem with trying to get technical stuff done by talking to a person who hasn't had the proper training in English.  How would they feel if they called tech support in their country and got someone who barely spoke their language? As pissed as I do, most likely. Jus' sayin'.

I've been seeing a lot of hit animals on the road again this Spring.  I know it's not any of you, but for the love of whatever god you worship, pay attention on the roads.  It's mating season right now and the critters are out in force.  Yes, I know, sometimes it's unavoidable.  I hit a barn swallow yesterday after it swooped in front of my car.  I also hit a squirrel last year because he ran under my wheels.  But I also missed several other animals because I was paying attention.  Especially turtles.  Turtles don't dart out in the road and unless you have traffic coming at you, you can usually swerve to miss those.

That's about it for me today.  Got any updates in your part of the world?

Sunday Update - Week 11

In Deep Wish is almost live.  Pre-order now to get it on your ereader first thing Tuesday.

Wish in One Hand's ad with Bargain Booksy did pretty well.  Sold some copies of that, got a few new orders for IDW.  WIOH is still 99 cents, if you're interested in snagging a copy and haven't yet.

I got the print cover for IDW, uploaded it to Createspace, and ordered a proof copy.  That'll be here Wednesday, so if all looks peachy, it'll be available to order soon.

I finished the read-through on Up Wish Creek.  It needs a pinch of something, but that's what edits are for.  I think I might have to change the end entirely and add a little somethin'-somethin' to make for a smoother transition into the next book.  (I have not even begun to think about Once Upon a Djinn #4, so don't ask.)  Today, I'll be looking at background images for the cover for UWC so I can get the artist started on that.

Thursday night I got a book idea right before I went to bed.  SCIU #3.  I started writing it last night.  Not sure if I'm headed in the right direction, but it has begun.  800+ words so far.  No title yet. This one, I think, will be out of the Denver office.  LOL, all D towns so far - Dallas, Detroit, Denver.  Maybe I should move the field office to Salt Lake City, just to stir things up a little.  If you were going to open a field office in the Rocky Mountain region, which city would you pick?  Oh wait, never mind.  I just had an epiphany.  We'll see how it plays out.

I'm trying to ignore the time change this morning, but it ain't working.  Woke up at 6am (7am) and according to my 'puter clock it's a quarter after 8, which means I need to get my buns in gear if I want to hit Wallyworld before 10.  (I avoid crowds if I go before 10.)

I heard about something mildly annoying this week.  It seems Amazon is beginning to tag authors who have their Table of Contents at the ends of their books.  I put mine at the end because, as a reader, I hate having to scroll past the TOC to get to the story.  But having one at the end farques up the Kindle Unlimited page reads, I guess, so those of us who have one at the end seem like we're trying to game the system, which pisses Amazon off.  Sooo, I'll be moving my TOCs and re-uploading books to stay ahead of any potential nastygrams.  I already did Blood Flow

Oh yeah, I changed the cover for Blood Flow.  It looks like this now:
Still not seeing any sales, but I'll keep trying.  Next up might be a title change.  We'll see.

I can't think of anything else to update y'all on, so it's your turn.  What updates do you have?

Tuesday, November 24, 2015

Release Day!

Well, it finally happened.  BloodFlow is out in the world now.  And you can get a copy of your very own.  My copy hit my Kindle this morning.  (Yes, I buy a copy of my own books.)  So pretty.

If you've been following along all these years, you may remember this one as Nanotechnology.  I started it in 2007. Spent the next two years off and on writing a first draft.  Spent the next few years shoving it into a corner because I was afraid to edit it.  It was such a behemoth with so many plot twists and turns and I wanted it to be perfect but I wasn't sure how to make it so.

I finally knuckled down, deleted a bunch of stuff, made it tighter - better, stronger, faster - and sent it through the editing process.  My editor calls it a political thriller.  She's probably right.  After all, she knows it as well as I do, but from the outside, so she's more objective.  I like to think of it as Vince Flynn meets Michael Crichton meets Tess Gerritsen inside my head and we all have a party.  Woohoo.

So, without further ado, I give you BloodFlow:

Amazon US
Amazon UK
Amazon CA
Amazon AU
Createspace

If you're elsewhere in the world, it's available through whichever Amazon site you use.  Check there for price and availability.  If I read/wrote other languages, I'd be able to help you, but I'm English-only - as are my books.

Oh, and it's available for the Kindle Unlimited program.  If you're a subscriber, you get to read it without any additional cost to you.  Yay.

Sunday Update - Week 33

Ah, there are the week numbers again.  Last week was the 33rd week of 2015.  I know because I looked it up.  =op

Anyway, 33rd week. 3rd book released.  Wish in One Hand is now available for purchase for Kindle and in print.  I'll do some kind of numbers post over at Outside the Box tomorrow.  If I remember.

It's Sunday morning.  It's pouring rain with bangers and boomers.  I didn't sleep well.  All of that boils down to a less than chipper me this morning.  My woo won't hoo.

Now that the temperatures have been cooler, Hubs and I have been taking walks in the evening.  I'm sure he has to feel like he's on some kind of nature walk every time because I point out everything.  The other day I saw a tiny, furry caterpillar that looked like shimmering molten metal as it undulated over the concrete.  Last night, I saw a tiny, furry caterpillar with black tufts along its side and a russet stripe down the middle.  Neither of them were more than a half inch long.  I notice shit like that.    I also saw a beetle that was hinged between the thorax and the abdomen such that it looked like one of those crazy buses with the accordion middle for easier turning.

I also saw a bobcat on her way out on her dusk hunting trip.  First bobcat we've seen in almost two years.  Cool.

Speaking of noticing things, I found two flaws in the second chapter of WIOH.  Those are fixed in the e-version now.  Missed an 'a' and referred to Omar's sanctuary as a box when it's actually a lamp.  (It originally was a hollow bead on an old necklace, so I'm not sure how 'box' ever came into play.) That's one of the great things about self-publishing. Find a flaw, fix it.  No muss, no fuss.  Cuz let's face it.  In a 100K word novel, you can't catch everything. Not on the tenth pass.  Not on the hundredth.

For some reason, the new growth on my forsythia keeps dying.  Have to look into that.

What's going on in your world?

Tuesday, August 18, 2015

It's alive. It's Alive. It's ALIVE!

Bwa ha ha.

LOL

In case you hadn't heard, today is release day for Wish in One Hand

So pretty.

And here are all of my books together.  Yay!

I never thought I'd see the day when I'd have one book published, let alone three.

Thanks to everyone who helped make all of this possible.  :hugs:

Sunday Update - Week 7

Other than the obvious - Dying Embers went live on Friday (both Kindle and Createspace) - it was a pretty scattered week.

I took Max to the vet.  His gums were a little inflamed so they gave him an antibiotic shot.  Otherwise, he's progressing nicely.

I got the final PDF for the print cover, uploaded all that, and then ordered a proof copy - expedited so it would arrive on Friday rather than the following Thursday.  When the mail came, I was seriously cheezed off because it wasn't in there.  Umm, yeah, I know... expedited doesn't come USPS.  The UPS guy dropped it on the front porch just as I was laying down for a nap.  After I got up, I scanned through it and everything looked peachy, so I approved the proof for sale.

Meanwhile, I had uploaded everything for the ebook copy and set it to 'preorder' for a Friday launch.  I actually managed to snag 8 sales - which is awesome for me since I've heard tales of a sale-free launch day.

Then launch day came.  And I was a total spazz.  In fact, I got so sick of myself, I picked up and went to the used bookstore in town.  It is a testament to my will power that I have not been there since we moved here, because if I had gone, I would not have had the fundage to self-publish - believe you me.  The place is awesome.  The owner is a book geek and computer nerd like me.  And she plays awesome old songs throughout the store.  Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald.  :happy sigh:  Just what I needed to get out of my own head for a while.  I came home totally refreshed - and that was even with a midday stop at Walmart afterwards.  I swear old bookstores are like a shot of B-12 to me.

And before you ask, no I didn't do anything to otherwise celebrate launch day.  It's just not me.  I remember celebrating completing my first novel.  After that, not so much in the yahoo-yippee arena.  I'm not much of a celebrator, I guess.  To each his own.

I did get kinda choked up when a blog follower and avid reader gave me a most excellent review.  And I got teary at the outpouring of support from my friends - who reviewed, and tweeted and blogged. and facebooked about my release.  Plus, out of the blue yesterday, I got a notice that someone I'd never heard of tagged me in a tweet.  They were talking about the release of my book!  Could've knocked me over with a stick.
