Hello! How are y'all on the fine day? Okay, since I'm writing this Friday night, I'm only guessing that it'll be a fine day. Just roll with it.
I did pick up a few new ebooks this week, which was good because I was getting low. So, now I have a suspense, a cozy mystery, an urban fantasy, a science fiction, and a crime noir. Yay.

22) The Golden Gate by Alistair MacLean (4/19/22) - Thriller - 5 stars. Neither new to me nor underappreciated. Picked up from a thrift store for 50c back in March 2021.
Review: "Excellent story. I do have to admit, though, that sometimes the details and explanations got a little tedious for me. I'm a plot driven reader, though, so your mileage may vary, which is why I didn't subtract any stars."

4/21/22 - free - cozy mystery. I made it about halfway through this one before the MC, who was supposed to have this awesome background in crime, started doing things that were too stupid to live. And there didn't seem to be any real progressive in the clue department. Like four surreptitious suspect interviews in a row yielded nada. I kept thinking 'well, that was pointless' and so I gave up.
Currently reading... I finished that paranormal mystery at quarter to nine, and nine is my bedtime, so no time to start anything new.

I listened to 4 books this week (and did a big chunk of revising so didn't listen as much). I've finished 51 of the 150 in my challenge, which puts me 5 ahead. As these were all re-listens, not new to me and definitely not underappreciated. My bad.
ReplyDelete51 - Shadow Reaper (Shadow Riders, #2), Christine Feehan, paranormal romance, 4 stars. Dark and very dirty. Certain folks are born able to "ride" shadows. They mete out justice to those who have escaped it. Good premise, mostly interesting characters, but lots of sledgehammer pounding on "flaws" and emotional arcs, plus LOTS of repetition. Also fated mates, which is my catnip but YMMV. And way too much sex. But whatever.
50 - Shadow Rider (Shadow Riders, #1), Christine Feehan, paranormal romance, 4 stars. See above. She's a very formulaic writer and I gave up on all of her previous series for the above reasons. There's a new book coming out Tuesday in this series, hence the relisten.
49 - Shards of Frost (The Mercury Pack #5), Suzanne Wright, paranormal romance, 4 stars. This is the final book and there's a spin off series about Pallas Cats. I just...PALLAS CATS! Go Google a pic and you'll see what I mean. LOL
48 - Untamed Delights (The Phoenix Pack, #8), Suzanne Wright, paranormal romance, 4 stars. This is a fun series. Sorry to see it end, but it was probably time so it's all good.
Currently listening to Feehan's SHADOW KEEPER. I'll finish it later tonight and will start on the next in the series.
