Saturday Reading Wrap-up - 8/29/20

Not a great week in the realm of reading, but hey, stuff happens. I'll try to be more interesting next week.

No new books.

Books read:

60) High Stakes by Dick Francis (8/23/20) - Mystery - 4 stars.  Neither new to me nor underappreciated.
Review: "It's been years since I read a Dick Francis and this one was pretty much awesome. Until the very very end. That was disappointing to me. Your mileage may vary."

No DNFs.

Currently reading... Sphere by Michael Crichton.  I'd hoped to finish it last night, but I was too tired.

What did you read last week?  Anything awesome?

  1. Glad you had a safe trip to and from. Hoping Owl made it safely to her destination. I had a decent reading week. I relistened to a fave series in prep for the new release on Tuesday. I wasn't quite finished with the lead-in book but the new one was worth the wait and I needed the "refresher course" on the series. I am at 135 books on the year, back to 4 ahead of schedule. All are written by the wife and husband team of Ilona and Andrew Gordon, under the name Ilona Andrews. All are in the Hidden Legacy series, urban fantasy set in Houston where there is magic, Houses who "rule," magical mayhem and crime, and some romance. The series is centered on the Baylor sisters, Nevada (1st 3 books) then Catalina (hand-off in #3.5 novella) for what will be a 3-book arc and then hopefully Arabella a couple of years from now. I really wish they'd write faster! Anyway. That's the background. I'm just listing titles and ratings because I'm lazy. LOL

    135 Emerald Blaze #5 - 5 stars
    134 Sapphire Flame #4 - 4 stars
    133 Diamond Fire #3.5 - 4 stars
    132 Widfire #3 - 5 stars
    131 White Hot #2 - 5 stars

Currently listening to ORIGIN IN DEATH, which means I'm back to my re-listen of JD Robb's In Death series. This is a pivotal book in the series but not one of my favorites. I'll get through it and head on to the next.

Hope you catch up on your tireds and that you find a good read! Enjoy your weekend.
