Sunday Update - Week 11

Hello All.  I'm a little cranky-pants this morning.  My back hurts and the butt cheek I fell on last year hurts and it's foggy out and I have to bathe Max today and...

Well, you probably didn't come here to listen to me bitch so let's just get to last week's accomplishments, eh?

I finally got Wrongful Termination read and tweaked all the way through.  And I only missed my self-imposed deadline by one night, so it's all good.  It's in the editor's hands now - we'll see what she has to say sometime around the 29th.  I do know that the last scene choked me up.  :sniffle:

And I think I'm pretty close to having a cover image I can be proud of sending out into the world.  Now I need to figure out how to turn the ecover into a print cover.  It's all a learning curve.  And if I can't do it, I'll pay someone to.

The other day Hubs and I had an impromptu business meeting / interesting conversation wherein we discussed the future of B.E. Sanderson Publishing (not a real company and not even what I would call it if I was going to make this a LLC, but you get the gist.)  The goal here is to have the published books funding the publication of future books by the end of the year.  If I can do that, it's a win.  If I can't do that, I'll still be publishing books but probably with a limited budget.  And just so ya know, that's me saying that - not Hubs.  He's been super good about all this and would rather I not scrimp on anything.  But I'm a scrimper.  Anyway, I'll talk more about the future on tomorrow's post at B.E.'s Writerly Space.  K?

Since it looks like winter is finally giving up and going away, it's time for gardening news to show back up again in the Sunday Update.  Last week, I took the protective leaf barrier off the rosebed garden so the crocuses could stop growing up warped and retarded.  Now they're happy and they're blooming.  Today we're supposed to clean of the other beds, but like I said at the top of this post, my back's hurtiful so I might push that to tomorrow.

That's about it - at least that I can remember this morning.  How are things in your world?

    1. Thanks, JB! It was nice to have the book off to the editor. Now I wait to see what she has to say. Here's hoping it's not a hot mess. ;o)

And yes, blooming flowers always make everything better. We went out and finished the gardens after all, so we'll be seeing more flowers soon. Yay!

  2. I finally have daffodils. Fifteen days late, but I have two blooms. I did discover a yellow crocus blooming on my birthday so that's something. :)

Sorry for the owies. :( I'm watching Cardinals BB, nomming subs, and then working on Nightriders later this afternoon. Sure happy to see blue skies!

    1. Yay for the daffodils - even if they were tardy! And yay for your birthday crocus!

Thanks, Silver. I need to just take my Aleve and quit griping. It was a beautiful day yesterday. Good luck on Nightriders!

  3. I'd be cranky, too! (Hm. I am cranky today. Oops.)

Yay the last chapter makes you sniffle! That's a great sign. :-)

Hooray for crocuses and daffodils! I'm soooo envious. Some long-feral plant has put out a few red flowers next door, and I'm grateful to see them.

I got a huge wholesale pattern order (yay!) but I've spent so much time on it this week that little writing got done. (sigh) The monstrous thing is almost finished and ready for the mail, so I hope to get some work done tonight. Wish me luck.

    1. Ah, I see the cranky got us both yesterday, Deb. Bummer. Hope you're better today. I am. Yeah, it good when I can make myself sniffle - not quite bawl ala Joan Wilder, but still.

I love flowers in the Spring - even the little white ones on the weeds. Yay for your feral red flowers!

Oh, super yay for your pattern! But get to work! Good luck!

  4. Sorry to hear about your back and hope it gets better soon. I got an email yesterday to say the print version of Dying Embers should be with me by Wednesday - hooray!! Looking forward to it. I've been reading a series of books by a new to me writer. I'm on book 5 and beginning to get bored, still I must persevere as there's only one book left. Main female character is SUCH a watering pot - never known anyone cry so much . . . hence the boredom. I like my female leads a bit more feisty and a lot less wet.

    1. Thanks, Fran. It's just one of those things and I felt cranky enough to gripe about it yesterday. OMG, I'm so happy you'll be getting your hardcopy soon! Bummer about the series. I hate when I get that far into a series and get bored. Yeah, crying heroines tend to get on my nerves, too. Good luck with that last book.

  5. That was always my goal. Obviously I can design my own cover, and uploading the book is tedious but doable. Where I spent the big bucks was editing.

Hope you're feeling better. I'm at casa south (the one we''re trying to sell) and there's not a single part of my body that doesn't hurt. I've been dragging brush and burning it. I'd give anything for a whole day off.
