Addicted to Series

Or is that serieses?  MS Word says no.

Anyway, after reading Silver James awesome recommendation for Darynda Jones 'Charley Davidson' series, I realized that perhaps I am addicted to too many other series to add another to the mix.

Since admitting you have a problem is half the solution, here is a list of series I'm currently addicted to:

The October 'Toby' Daye series by Seanan McGuire
The Incryptid series by Seanan McGuire
JB Lynn's Hitwoman series
The Monster Hunter series by Larry Correia
The Grimnoir Chronicles by Larry Correia
The Runelords by David Farland
The Darkyn, the Kydred and the Lords of Darkyn series by Lynn Viehl
The Lucy Kincaid books by Allison Brennan
The Guardian Angelinos by Roxanne St. Claire
The Highland Guard series by Monica McCarty
The Kris Longknife books by Mike Shepherd
The Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne
The Lords of the Underworld series by Gena Showalter
The Moonstruck series by Silver James
and Silver James Faerie novels
Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp books
The Deacon Chalk series by James R. Tuck
The OSI books by Jes Battis
Rob Thurman's Cal Leandros books and her series on the Tricksters
The Rogue Agent series by K.E. Mills
The Deadtown novels by Nancy Holzner
Whichever series Jeaniene Frost is currently on now.
Gini Koch's Alien Novels
The Wing Slayer Hunter novels by Jennifer Lyon (if she ever gets to write more of them)
The House of Comarre by Kristen Painter
The Across the Universe novels by Beth Revis
The Occult Crimes Unit books by Justin Gustainis

And that's not everything.  That's just what I could glean from last year's 'books read' post.  I still love Harry Dresden, but I haven't read the last book Jim Butcher wrote about him.  Plus, there are a few series that came to a close that I would definitely buy if there were more of them - like Allison Pang's Abby Sinclair books, or more Codex Alera novels, or any additional Newsflesh stuff Mira Grant puts out.

I've got a problem.  Not that I mind being addicted.  No, my problem runs more along the lines of 'so many books, so little time (and so few dollars in my book budget).

What series are you addicted to?  Come on and share.  It's not like I'll get addicted to those to.  Really I won't.  I can quit reading new series anytime.

Quit bogarting the books.

  1. Wow, what a great list.

    Series are dangerous! (and wonderful!)

I tend to like TV better than movies for the same reasons I love series. I prefer revisiting familiar places/characters.

  2. That's a lot of series, B.E.! And I plan on bookmarking this so when I'm looking for a series to read, I have a ready list available :)

I like series, unless they go beyond...jumping the shark, so to speak. Like the Outlander series - yep, book 5 didn't get finished! And the Clan of the Cave Bear series - I think I lost interest in book 4.

And, yeah, I saw Silver's recommendation for the Charley Davidson series and I wrote it down. I am easily influenced!!

  3. FYI, there are only 4 books in the Charley Davidson books, and no word on when/if there will be a fifth, which makes me a very unhappy camper.

My must-buy series in current release mode include J.D. Robb's In Death/Eve Dallas and Jayne Ann Krentz's Arcane Society and permutations. Loved both of Rocki's series and keep hoping for more. The same with Jen's Wingslayers. I'm learning to love Jeaniene Frost and Larissa Ione's demon series.

And I'm blushing over here, B.E.! Thank you for including me in a very illustrious group!

  4. Thanks, JB. I didn't used to be a series follower, but like any addict, all it took was a taste of the good stuff to get me hooked.

LOL, yeah, Janet. I hope this list gives you some good books. Yep yep, an author can totally kill a series for me. I think that's what happened to my love for Harry Dresden books.

Good to know there are only 4, Silver. That Runelords series I got addicted to is at like 8 or something and still going. Thanks for writing books so good they got me addicted. ;o)

  5. Holy, moly! That's an impressive list. I have to say I'm a bigger fan of trilogies. I seem to lose interest around book 4. But I do enjoy JR Ward's Black Brotherhood series!

  6. I'm addicted to book series too. Unfortunately, I can't list them all here since I mostly read romance and YA--and 99% of those are series LOL.

  7. I love book series! Much like tv series I often end up devouring everything in one sitting or a few days because I just get caught up in the world the author manages to create.

  8. LOL, yeah, Karyn. Like I said, I'm an addict. Most of the books I read now are part of a series.

I'm glad you could admit your addiction, too, Nat. ;o)

Yay, Mia! Fellow series lovers unite!
