Thursday This n That

Sometimes I like to share books on Facebook that I haven't read and probably won't purchase, because they look interesting to me and I think some of my friends might enjoy them. And invariably someone will say 'tell me what you think of it when you're done' and I feel bad because I never really intended on buying it.  Not because I don't want to but because the budget does not allow for me to buy all the books I'd like to.  So, instead of buying books I can't afford to, I share them on FB as a way of supporting the author so they can keep on writing and maybe someday I'll be in a position to buy their books.

Despite my love of birds, I really don't like parrots.  It's a long story, but suffice it to say I lived with one for nearly 3 years and that was quite enough thank you very much.  I only mention this because today's bird of the day is parrots - again.  For the second time this week.  The last one, I had to put a sticky note over the bird's face because it was creeping me out.

I really need to cut my hair.  I'm starting to look like a sheepdog.

Today's the last day of November.  I'm sure all y'all probably knew that, because you're on the ball and stuff, but it came as a total surprise to me.

I know tomorrow is the first of December, but I am totally not ready to think about Christmas.  Ho Ho NOT.  Maybe it's the fact that it hasn't gotten cold here yet.  It's been in the sixties for the most part.  Hell, I was out fishing the other afternoon in a t-shirt.  Gorgeous day.  And so not 'put me in the holiday mood' weather.

I just noticed that in my pen/pencil cup is an NMU pencil, unsharpened and probably 26 years old.  I think it's the only thing left I purchased while I was in college.  The t-shirt wore out.  The mugs got broken.  But I still have my pencil.

Well, that's it for me.  What have you got for me this morning?

  1. I don't mind the mild weather. Keeps the utility bills down.

Having back issues totally suck. I'm to the point now that I can stand up out of my desk chair without a painful spasm that makes me want to fall to my knees. This too shall pass eventually.

I'm going to finish this damn WIP today or else. Just sayin'...

I think it's cool that you share books like that. I'm getting a lot of use out of the digital and audio collections of my local library. I'm a bit supporter of libraries. Sure beats piracy. Not that you would! Don't mean that at all. It's just that there are a lot of libraries out there and cards are free.

    Parrots. Just...no!

I need to trim my hair too. Maybe this weekend. Or, maybe not. LOL

I caught the commercial jingle for a local jeweler that is a Christmas institution here in Oklahoma. That means it really is the holiday season. *sigh* Christmas decorations this weekend. *HUGE sigh*

I think I have a stein from my college packed away somewhere. And there's a Christmas ornament on the tree from there. It's been over 40 years. Damn. I'm so freaking old!

  2. This: I broke down and cut my hair a few days ago. I suspect it needs more trimming, but so did the last 'pro' cut I got.

That: I think I'm coming down with a cold. I wish it would get here and done with. Haven't gotten any real work done in days. :-(

A good thing: Almost all my Christmas shopping is done. But what do I get for my 86-y-o dad? He's bed-bound, has stopped reading, has no interests whatsoever! Totally stumped.
