Marketing Monday - Series Bonanza - A Model Curse

I'm trying something different today.  I'm marketing an entire series.  My A MODEL CURSE series definitely hasn't gotten the love it deserves, so all three books in the series are free starting today and running through Friday.  It's snarky.  It's got a heroine who breaks the rules by being slightly unlovable.  Although, frankly, I do love her, but that's because I know her and she's really a good person deep down.  She's shallow and vapid and self-absorbed, with a foul-mouth and bad habits, but she's also got a big heart.  Once you read the books, you'll see how she got the way she is and how she grows to show her real beauty.

The book is written in a very conversational style - my conversational style - so don't come into this with your Strunk and White in hand.  It's for fun.  It's for escape.  Oh, there is a deeper message behind it all, but I don't beat you over the head with it.  If you get it, great.  If not, I hope the ride is still enjoyable.

Anyway, enjoy.  The books are free, so why not try them?  What have you got to lose?

A MODEL CURSE - the entire series - is free for a limited time. Now through Friday, get the whole damn, fun, snarky, paranormal suspense story totally free. (They're always free with Kindle Unlimited. This is so everyone can play.)

Marketing Monday... The Late Edition

Okay, so somehow I totally brainfarted on my marketing post yesterday, so you get it today...

Now through Friday, CINDER UGLY is absolutely free. (Always free with Kindle Unlimited.) Get your copy of this snarky paranormal romp today! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08LW3ZB5Y

This is the third and final book of the A Model Curse series, where everything gets wrapped up.  The first in the series is only 99c and the second is $3.99, so you're basically getting the whole series for under $5 if you get it this week.  It's a fun series to read and it was fun to write.  Enjoy!

Marketing Monday

Welcome to another installment of Marketing Monday.  First off, I did it right this time!  It's Monday and the book I want to be free is actually free, so yay.

Starting today, CINDER UGLY is free worldwide.  (It's always free with Kindle Unlimited. This is for the other folk.)  Get loads of snark, suspense, and paranormal awesomeness with this story, but reader beware - this series comes with a healthy helping of profanity.

Also, in case you missed it, my friend Silver James has a new book out - Moonstruck: Retribution.

Pick up your copy today. (My copy's waiting for me to get done using my Kindle for editing, which is taking way longer than I'd like. Gah.)

Sunday Update - Week 44

Hello again.  We're slowly creeping toward the end of 2020.  A lot of people won't be sad to put this year behind them, and I'm one of them.  Still, whether 2021 is better than this is up to you.  And what happens on Tuesday.  Positive forward progress vs negative sliding backward.

And if you haven't set your clock back yet, you should probably get on that at some point today.  (We do ours Sunday morning after the coffee has kicked in.)  Right now, the computers and the satellite clocks all say 5:30 and the other clocks all say 6:30.

Anyway... I didn't do any writing this past week.  This was mainly due to getting Cinder Ugly done and up for pre-order and focusing on the Once Upon a Djinn sale.  Post-publication is not a good writing time for me.  I get the blues.  Meh.

I have done a bunch of marketing this week.  It's netted me 9 sales, which is more than I've sold over the past few months combined.  If I'd done some paid advertising, I could've possibly raised that number, but paying for marketing is not in the cards right now.  Gotta sell books to make money so I can pay for advertising to sell books.  It's a vicious circle.

On the reading front, it was a good week.  Not gangbusters, but good.

This week was not good for activity.  It rained.  A lot.  Like 7 inches worth of sky water.  And I was not inclined to exercise indoors.  Or clean.  Meh.  Let's not talk about weight.  I didn't weigh myself.  I don't want to and you can't make me.

I made oatmeal raisin cookies this week.  Those are for Hubs.  I had planned to make a meatloaf yesterday, but then I got a wild hair and picked up the fixin's for chili.  Big ol' vat of it.  Yum.  Actually I planned to make the meatloaf Thursday and then forgot until it was too late in the day to start it.  That's the problem with meatloaf.  It takes 2.5 hours to cook, so I have to get it in the oven by 2:30 if I want it ready by dinner.  And I don't like eating late.  I'm getting a real craving for cake, so that might be on the to-do list for today.

Speaking of wild hairs, I cut my hair yesterday.  It was driving me nuts.  Back up above my collar it goes.  Yay.

It's finally getting cold enough to go into the woods.  I haven't yet - 7" of rain makes muddy mush out of my hill.  The rain also screws up the fishing - makes a muddy mess out of the river, doncha know.  I hope to be able to do both of those things soon.

I've been thinking about what to do for writing next.  Again, I'm faced with the same decisions - do I hit the unfinished YA fantasy, or the unfinished mystery, or the unfinished UF?  Or do I start a new book - another SCIU or Dennis Haggarty?  Decisions decisions.  I'll figure it out.  Needless to say, I will not be starting NaNoWriMo today.

I think that's about it for me today.  What went on in your week?  What lies ahead?

Busy Busy Busy

Okay, so after much foot-dragging and toadness, Cinder Ugly is available for pre-order.  (I will explain my reasoning for pre-order versus actual order tomorrow on Outside the Box.)  Now that it's live and I have a linky-loo, I have loads of work to do.  As in my post-publication checklist...

Fall apart.

(The last item is optional and can be inserted anywhere along the way.)

The crossed off items are done.  Other items have to be done today.  Some of the other items are partially done.  (7:42pm Updated to reflect what I've done since this posted.)

I'm questioning the wisdom of doing all this and having a sale going on at the same time.  Really, I am.  It's a little crazypants right now. (In my head.  All outward appearances show the usual calm and relaxedness of every day life here.)

Launching a new book is a bit frazzling.  Thank goodness I make lists or I'd never remember all the things I have to do.  And I still have to do print versions of Cinder Ugly and Ugly and the Beast - which a totally different list.  Ugh.

I know I said I'd have a sale on the first two A Model Curse books next week, but I hit a speedbump.  Sleeping Ugly's 90 days in Kindle Select is up on the 5th, which makes it hard to schedule a sale to overlap two 90 day windows.  So, the sale will begin after Sleeping Ugly renews for another 90 days and it allows me to schedule a Kindle Countdown Deal.  All the little variables.  Blerg.

I need a clone.  None of this is hard, it's just all so tedious.  Not a fan of tedium.  I'd rather hand this all off to someone and say 'do it' and then not have to worry about it.

So anyway, I'm busy busy busy.  Like a little bee.  Or a beaver.  Personally, I feel more like a beaver - fat and waddling and ready to curl up in my den and sleep.  But I'll get it all done.  Hopefully before the book goes live live next week.

Sunday Update - Week 18

Sorry I'm late.  I forgot to write this and schedule it.  Then I slept in unintentionally.  Now you're stuck with me first thing in my morning.  Blarg.  (Which is monster sized blerg.)

After I got Ugly and the Beast out into the world, I did some post-publication stuff and then lost the gumption to do anything else.  Yesterday, I poked myself in the butt and got 2400 words out on Cinder Ugly.  More of that today definitely.

I did some minor marketing on FB.  Crickets.  Since publication, I've sold 1 whole book and 1 book through KU.   I'll keep working on CU and see what happens after the complete trilogy is published.  Couldn't hurt, eh?

I only read one book last week, but it was a good one.

In baking news, I did another batch of Incredible Chocolate Chunk Cookies - which chips instead of chunks this time.  And I made a chocolate oil cake yesterday with peanut butter frosting.  Yummers.  And I did a BBQ pork roast and turned it into pulled pork to rave reviews.

I think we figured out the slowness of our internet.  It wasn't the neighbors - all apologies to them for my wrongful accusations.  It was Owl, downloading games while she sleeps, which is while we're up and trying to do things online.  I asked her to keep her downloading to the weekends and our mornings have been fine until yesterday morning and this morning.

My previously peeked columbine got big and bloomed.  It's red with a yellow center.  So pretty.  The white one that was doing fine last year died.  The black one is still going strong.

Kira Kitty went to the vet, much to her dismay.  She's on the road to recovery.  Two days left of the antibiotics and she's breathing almost normally again.  And she pooped like a champion yesterday.  Yeah, it is strange that I get excited over whether a cat poops and how much she poops.  If you've ever had a geriatric cat, you understand.

Not much on the activity front last week.  I went fishing once and walked once.  Weight: 173.0.  Nine and a half pounds down for the year.  Yay.

The fishing was good.  I went out before dawn on Thursday and caught three undersized bass.  Almost caught a good-sized one, but it threw the lure.  C'est la vie.

Other than that, not much going on.  We're still all well, as are our families.

How's things with you?
