Thursday This n That

Hang on a sec... I need more coffee... Okay, I'm back.

My Amazon order was supposed to be delivered yesterday. It was on an Amazon truck, headed this way.  We waited.  And waited.  And when it got dark, we turned the porchlight on.  At 9, we finally gave up, turned the light off and went to bed.  This morning, Amazon says it's been delayed due to weather.  No biggie.  We did have one hell of a sploosher.  Still, it would've been nice if they'd mentioned the possible delay yesterday afternoon.  Sort of a 'hey, it looks like there's a possibility of our vehicle getting either blown off the road or submerged in the deluge, so we're probably not gonna make it' thing.  Anyway, now they're predicting delivery on the 7th.  Two days?  The weather wasn't THAT bad.  No swirly-whirlies or anything.   Yeah, there's nothing important in my order.  Carving design stuff mostly.  It's the idea that irritates me.

I wonder what all this rain is doing to my newly-planted carrot seeds.  Eh, time will tell.

The coffee's not helping yet.  I need a smoke.  Hang on.  Be right back...  Okay.  Thanks.

Yesterday, the neighbor kid was walking the road by himself.  He's like 7, I think.  He's a good kid and this is a fairly safe neighborhood, but we were concerned.  I wasn't allowed to leave the yard by myself until I was 10.  Of course, we did have those boys that got murdered about 10 minutes east of town when I was little.  Maybe I worry too much.  It's the grandmother genes I will never use poking their heads out, most likely.

Of course, after that, the episodes of the crime shows we wanted to watch seemed to be all about kids - one was cops tracking a pedophile ring, another one had a guy who'd murdered a kid.  We settled on an episode of Harry Wild that only featured teens peripherally and none of them got hurt.  Then we watched a true-disaster show.

I had planned on making my first cuts into woods yesterday, but it was so damn gloomy out that the light sucked out on the sunporch where I wanted to carve.  Oh, well.  The wood's not going anywhere.

Okay, I think that's it for me.  Anything you want to add?

Thursday This n That

Sawyer has been playing with his favorite jingly-ball for about an hour now.  He bats that thing around the house like Pele going down the field for a goal.  Yes, he woke me up, but it's hard to be mad at him when he's being good and playing.  I'd rather have him doing that than scratching the bedroom walls and meowling at 3am, as he is wont to do.

My freebie thing this week isn't going great.  On the other hand, people have been reading DE in KU, so I can't be too depressed.

Getting old blows.  I mean, it's better than the alternative, but come on.  The strange thing is I still feel young in my head.  My body is a whole 'nother story.

I can't believe Ozzy Osbourne died.  I was never a huge fan of his, but he was a fixture of our culture for so many years.  Now, there's a case of Heaven won't take him and Hell's afraid he'll take over, if ever there was one.  (A joke... I hear he was a nice person, and his antics on stage in the '80s were staged or rumors or PR.)

Also, Malcolm Jamal Warner (Theo from The Cosby Show) died this week.  That was a real shocker.  He was younger than me.  The poor man drown.  =o(

Hang on a sec... I need a smoke and some more coffee... Thanks, I needed that.  Now where was I?

Why are the katydids so freakin' loud this year?  Holy crap, it's like an alien invasion out there.  Or Day of the Triffids.  OMG, Howard Keel was in that movie?  I haven't seen it since I was a kid, but I never would've thought Keel was the MC.  By the way, the Joshua Tree National Park looks like a scene out of DotT.  Creepy.

Wow, that was some free range thinking right there, eh?

No matter what you read about what's going on in Gaza, do your research.  A certain section of the populace are putting forward blatant lies.  Don't get suckered.  Actually, that pretty much goes for everything.  Do your due diligence and don't look like a moron.  K?

Finn and Sawyer are rasslin' now.  Finn sounds like he's being killed, but he's the aggressor.  One of these days, he'll really be in trouble, but because of his prior drama, I won't react to his caterwauling.  Cat who cried wolf and all that, doncha know.

Okay, since I've bookended this post with cats, I should probably let you go.  Have a great day wherever you are.  :hugs:

Thursday This n That

Yeah, I know it's Friday, but I was busy yesterday.  It was take the kitties for their wellness vet visit.  They gave us something for Sawyer's sniffles and something else for Finn's intestinal issues, and something for both of them for general health, I guess.  They made it down and back with minimal meowing, no pooping and, most importantly, no puking.  The appointment was super quick and we were home before 10, which was good because I wasn't due in to work until 11.

The stuff they gave Sawyer for his sniffles went down like a dream.  The stuff they gave Finn for his tummy was a fuckin' nightmare.  And he's my good baby.  I thought his head was gonna start spinning around he was freaking out so bad.  Thanks for that, doc.  And now he doesn't trust me.  Double thanks.  And the stress of the whole ordeal has made his poops worse.  Blerg.  Since the doc assured me it couldn't be parasites, I'm just going to hope he grows out of it.  And I'll probably try my sister's recommendation and start mixing cat food with the kitten food.

It'll all work itself out.

Speaking of work, it's all starting to smooth itself out as well.

Not smoking at this desk is driving me nuts.  The force of habit is strong.

Speaking of smoking, I do it.  And I'm gonna keep doing it.  Why do people feel the need to make comments on it when they would think it rude to make comments on any other personal habit?  It's verboten to walk by someone eating and tell them that their hamburger is going to kill them.  It's tacky to keep reminding people who drink about what alcohol is doing to their liver.  Or that they could kill someone on their way home.  And you'll never hear someone telling someone else that they're perfume stinks.  But smokers are fair game?  Bah.  And feh.  I'm perfectly respectful about smoking.  I don't do it around people.  I police my butts.  Hell, if I'm smoking outside and someone who isn't smoking is nearby, I try to blow the smoke away from them.  Or I walk away.

The deer are fat pregnant.  Soon, we'll have fawns.

And on that note, Hubs is up and I should probably go find something else to do for the few minutes I have before I have to get ready for work.  Have a great day, y'all.
