Sunday Update - Week 8

First off, I smashed my pinky finger yesterday, so it's making typing a pain in the butt.  If you didn't already see the drama on Facebook, I was unpacking groceries and when I lifted the ice cream out of the bag, I misjudged the distance to the underside of the cabinets.  Got stuck between a cabinet and a brick of chocolate ice cream.

Anyway, this last week hasn't been the most productive.  But here goes...

I wrote about 2100 words on the beginning of Djinn 3.

Then I got distracted working on the edits for Wrongful Termination because I got a wild  hair to rewrite the beginning of that.

I did manage to get some more submissions out.  Just one or two a day - and not every single day - but it's something.  One of them did result in a response...

I got an email back from an agent's assistant asking me for a tiny bit of clarification.  Also, they said they liked the beginning, though, so that's something.  We'll see if my response encourages them to ask for more pages.  I've got my fingers crossed but I'm not holding my breath.

So that's the long and the short of the week.  Nothing much worth talking about in the old personal life.  (At least nothing I'm willing to spend any time yammering about here on the blog.)  Everyone's still alive, so that's something.

What happened to you this past week?  Remember, even if it was craptastic, try to think of something positive, even if it's only 'I managed not to piss anyone off this week'.

  1. Sounds like you had a pretty good week overall.

The highlight of my week was making orange juice with my seven-year-old niece. Watching her enjoyment of such a simple thing was infectious.

    1. Other than a couple bobbles, it was a pretty good week, JB.

Yay for having fun with a kid. I need to rent a kid to have fun with one of these days. ;o)

  2. I got my 2nd and hopefully last set of revisions back on the first Harlequin book and set up my timetable for it and the second book. HE liked the schedule with a minor adjustment at the far end. I've been stewing over some things that will need rewriting while worry about Lawyer Guy. Was a good week, mostly. :) Sorry about the pinky, though. :( Crossing fingers on request for more. :D

Eh, I'm already over the pinky thing. I ain't got time for no injuries. Thanks for the crossed fingers. I need them. :hugs:

  3. Good job on the writing! Not so good on the smashing of finger--ouch! The Olympics pretty much controlled my life this week, but so what, right? While I'll miss it when it's over, I'm kind of relieved, too. Now I can go back to obsessing about my writing, the way it should be. Haha! :)

    1. Thanks, Stacy! Yeah, the Olympics did take up a lot of time, but they only come every couple years, so taking this time is worth it. Now, we both need to get back to work. :whipcrack: ;o)

  4. Hugs to your finger. Typing with bum digits is a major pain.

I finished reading Feda's Anchor aloud and rewrote the beginning. And I designed a cover. I'm happy with the lot, so I uploaded it to Createspace and ordered a proof copy. Now I need to catch up with all the stuff I was supposed to do last week. :-)

Yay for getting writerly stuff done! You'll have to let me know if and when it's ready for public consumption so I can snag a copy.

  5. It's funny how something small like a pinky finger can be a such a big pain in the ass! I had a paper cut once on my middle finger that got infected... SO PAINFUL. Hope it gets better quick!
