Sunday Update - Week 22

There is not enough coffee in the world this morning.

Okay, so here's what happened last week in my world:

Has it only been a week?  Sheesh.

Okay, so last Monday, my ad went up at Ereader News Today.  Thanks to that ad, Dying Embers reached #9 on the Kindle/Mystery, Thriller, Suspense/Crime Fiction/Serial Killers list and #19 for all books on the same list. Plus, it was the #1692 in all books of any kind.

And since then, I've been hovering nicely in the 30s.  Needless to say, I am now slightly obsessed with checking my sales, rankings, and reviews.  We'll see if Dying Embers has any staying power after I raise the price tonight.  (It's .99 now and will be going up to 2.99.)

Side-stepping my obsession for a moment, I also began work on a new book.  I'm just under 3K words in and I'm loving it.  What's the new book?  Well, it's the next book in the Dennis Haggarty mysteries.  The idea hit me and I ran with it.

Don't worry, I'm still working on editing Bloodflow for an Autumn Release.

In other news, our yard has been the local meeting ground for the area bucks this week.  We've counted like 5 or 6 different individuals - judging by their different rack configurations.  Their antlers are all soft and fuzzy looking, but some of these dudes are going to be racked up this fall.  Little Elias has tiny antlers and he's still followed his mama around.  Awww.  Plus, we're seeing a new visitor - Teeny-Tiny Tina.  She has to be a yearling doe, but she's so small, it's hard to tell she's not a fawn.

Back to book news... I received my box of paperback copies of Accidental Death.  I still have to contact the winner of the newsletter contest to let her know she won a copy.  Other copies will be going in the mail tomorrow.

I also heard from the cover artist for Wish in One Hand and I should be seeing a draft copy of that soon.

Oh, and the editor for WIOH is slaving away.  Mid-August is still the tentative release date - barring Armageddon.

What's up in your world?

  1. This is Sunday, right? I definitely need more coffee!!!

Congrats on your numbers! Those are totally awesome!!!! Lots going on in your life. Take the time to watch the deer. ;)

Me? I've got about 5K words to write today. I took the entire day off yesterday. But tomorrow is my self-imposed deadline to complete DOUBLE CROSS. I'd prefer to have the first draft done today. Then I can upload the draft and cover to Amazon for pre-order with a July 1st release date, and edit while it's out to my CP and beta readers. Then get to work on the next three projects with summer deadlines. *headdesk* Yeah...not enough coffee in the world! LOLOL

    1. Oh yeah, it's Sunday all right. All day.

Thanks, Silver! Yeah, lots going on, but there's always time for deer.

I hope you got your 5K out. I took today off for the most part (except for some marketing). You can do finish this! You rock! I can't wait for your release day. Too cool. Three projects? Yeah, you're way more busy than I am. And there's never enough coffee. ;o)

  2. Yay for the great stats! Hooray for the new book!!!!

How cool you have deer come in so close you can watch them.

My mom was in the hospital for surgery, so much of my week was shot. I brought her home yesterday, with my brother as live-in caretaker. (I live a couple of houses down.) Mom's doing well, but I'm getting random panicky phone calls from my brother. "Mom can't stop throwing up!" I dashed over there and learned she's barfed three times in four hours. Not my idea of an emergency, but he's a male. ;-)
She's fine now, and I'll stay with her tomorrow. Less panic, LOL!

I did get 2C out to a beta reader. I'd planned to start 3C, but I'm fried. I'll tinker with the outline until my brain kicks back in. :-)

    1. Thanks, Deb!

Yeah, the deer just wander out of the forest and nibble at the corn we leave for them. It's pretty cool.

Oh no! I hope she'll be okay. Yeah, brothers can be kind of not ready for the whole nursing thing. I'm glad she's fine now. :hugs:

Yay for getting 2C out to the beta reader! You have every right to be fried with the week you've had. Let your brain rest a bit.

  3. Lots of exciting stuff!! So cool about your rankings. Can't wait to hear if it continues as more people read it (compound marketing or whatever). And yay for new books! I love that feeling.
