Totally Random Thoughts

I'm totally sick of the heat wave.  The forecast is showing 100+ temperatures through July 6th now.  Bastards.

Because of the above (or at least that's the story I'm sticking to), I'm sucking down frozen treats like crazy.  Pop Ice, ice cream sandwiches, ice cream, Dole Fruit & Juice bars...  These temperatures are totally ruining my diet.

I love coffee.  If it weren't so hot outside, I'd totally bathe in coffee.

We've been having a dragonfly invasion these past few days.  Yesterday at dusk the sky was filled with the buggers.  And as I stood outside smoking (no, not because I was on fire - even if it felt like it), they were everywhere.  I was rooting for the Western Kingbirds to eat a few, but dragonflies must taste totally nasty because the birds weren't interested.

Friday I bathed Max the Wonder Cat.  Neither of us was happy about it, but it had to be done.  It's awfully hard for a cat with only 5 teeth and a busted tongue to wash himself.  Of course, this necessity resulted in multiple puncture wounds for me.  I totally look like a pincushion.

Last I heard most of the Colorado wildfires fires were either totally out or partially contained.  So there's that.

If you type the word 'totally' enough, it starts to look weird.

What totally random thoughts do you have today?

  1. I'm sorry about the heat!! Christopher was hit with a horrible storm on Friday night. They haven't had power or water since and it's hitting the 100s there too. I fly tomorrow--not looking forward to entering that mess. I can deal with the heat IF I get AC, otherwise... =\ Oh well, I shall survive lol.

    Happy Canada day!!! =)

  2. I dont know how you're all coping! Hope weather forecast is wrong and it cools down sooner than 6th.

Well done for surviving washing the cat too.

  3. Random thought: I wish your kingfishers would come eat my grasshoppers. The darn hoppers are eating my plants to the ground, and I even broke down and sprayed a pesticide. I hate poisoning the local bug life, especially when it didn't do any good.

My good news: it's only 88 now, and it's not supposed to get much hotter. I'm soooooooooo tired of 100+ weather.

  4. Random thoughts on heat:

It's not the heat, it's the humidity.

Why is the heat index so much hotter than the wind chill index is cold?

    But it's a DRY heat...

    Random thoughts on coffee:

Sonic ice, chocolate syrup, soy milk, and coffee = frappucino.

It's never too hot for coffee.

I like dragon flies. I'll trade you the hissing June beetles we get down here. Google 'em. Polyphylla decemlineata. Dang things are bigger than my thumb. Just sayin'.

  5. It's been in the low 90s here in WI and we're melting just from that - can't imagine the 115 some of you are getting! I love dragonflys! Much better than the flies and mosquitoes that lurk around here every night.

    And poor kitty. :(

  6. It's always hot in Texas. I'm just grateful when it gets below 95.

Dragonflies are good creatures--mostly. They eat mosquitoes and flies. Unfortunately, they also eat bees.

I agree with Deb Salisbury. I wish they would/could eat our grasshoppers. They're a plague around here.

PS Thank you for your good wishes on Tank's return. We are all more rested now. :)
