A week has already gone by? How'd that happen?
So, I made the decision to edit Early Grave instead of tearing myself up trying to write DH3 when it just wasn't coming. But... BUT... I haven't done that either. I did email the book to my Kindle. I did download it. I did get my handy-dandy notebook and set it next to my chair with my Kindle. But I only read the first paragraph (which I hated) and then, when I actually wanted to buckle down and tackle more, my Kindle decided to update itself, which took until bedtime. And I remembered that my editor will have Blink back to me mid-month, which doesn't give me a lot of time to complete a run-through of Early Grave. Blerg.
It's not that I didn't do any work. I started building next year's sales spreadsheets. Wee.
I read some stuff. I finished Wishsong of Shannara. Yeah, it wasn't great. The end was =op. After the epic story and everything, the ending just wasn't worthy. Harrumph. Anyway, that's that. I need to find a copy of Sword of Shannara and see how that goes, but I suspect it will also be as I remember - i.e. not as good as Elfstones. I also read a spy thriller / hard boiled crime novel. It was the 41st book in a series I'd never read before. Pretty awesome stuff, so much so that I may have to find the other 40 books. Then I read a medical thriller about 2/3rds of the way through, but it irritated me at that point so I DNF'd it. Not sure what's next.
I went thrift storing. Picked up about a dozen books, one of which was that medical thriller. I also got some mysteries, a couple literatures for my collection, a few suspenses, a historical about Stonehenge, and a literary. The literary was Water for Elephants. I enjoyed the movie, so we'll see if I like the book.
Yesterday afternoon I got a wild hair and decided to scrub the front porch. It was covered with dirt and bird poop and schmutz from the suet, so it needed a good deep scrubbing. Thus, I am sore today. But the porch looks nice.
And I fished. Which might be another reason why I'm sore this morning. I did a lot of walking and carrying my gear around yesterday morning. It's better than being a chair tuber*, though.
Okay, that's the update for that week. What's your update?
*Nope. Doesn't have the same ring as couch potato. Drat.
I finally typed THE END on Tucker's book. It came in at 50,292. I need to cut about 2K words before I send it off to my editor. There will be lots to fix, I'm pretty sure, so I need the extra word count to do that. This book ate my lunch.
ReplyDeleteI started playing around with ideas for a couple of books. I still want to write my Wolf mafia serials. But that means having the whole thing done so I can upload on schedule. *sigh*
I finished off a KU listen of two series of wolf shifter romances. They were pretty good for the most part. I ended up having to buy two of them, but the audio books only cost $1.99 so there's that. I also got a free trial to Audible's Romance subscription. Burning through some books by unfamiliar authors. If I don't like the book, DNF without guilt.
I need to get at least some of the outdoor Christmas decorations up today. I'm considering "layering" the lights on the front porch. Currently, I have a green LED strip out there. I may just stick the lighted evergreen garland on top.
The yard guy came and blew out/mulched about half the leaves. He still needs to blow out and bag the leaves in the flower beds so I won't be putting up the walkway lights until next week. They're pretty easy to unroll, stick the stakes in the ground and plug in.
Last week was mostly stressing over the stupid WIP. And dealing with my back. It's not 100% yet but I can sit and stand without too much twinge unless I've been sitting too long.
That's it for me. Cool snap is coming next week. Get your fishing in now. ;)
LOL on the chair tuber! Have to admit, I read it as 'chair tumor' the first time. It freaked me out for a minute.
ReplyDeleteNot a great week for writing for me, either. Like, maybe 15 lines. Sigh. But I did get three wholesale orders, which took up most of my writing time, so I shouldn't complain. (I am, anyway! ;-)
Now I just need to get the last order taped up. And to kick this stupid headache! I need to get back to writing!
