I sent Hubs off to fish by himself on Tuesday. He needed to get out of the house for a while, and I had a boatload of stuff that needed doing. He left and I cranked up the jams while I worked. It was a good afternoon for all.
This is one of those weeks where I have everything to do and I'm doing my damnedest to get it all done. But as of writing this post last night, I still have about 100 pages to go through on SU and THEN I have to address the few things in the edit letter and THEN I have to scan for crutch words and itinerant typos one last time. And I still have to format it. So, while I might still make the 18th, don't hold your breath.
Of the 'everything to do', I did get all the work for pay-job done by Wednesday afternoon. Go, me.
Yeah, I rewrote the beginning of SU, but my editor approved most of it with only a few tweaks. Expect a snippet of that tomorrow on Outside the Box.
I managed to walk a mile yesterday without wanting to whimper, so the back thing's mostly gone.
God, I want pie. So bad. Maybe when I hit Wallyworld tomorrow, I'll break down and buy me some. That would be awesome. Maybe I can get away with one of those mini-pies. Hmmm.
Okay, that's it for me. Your turn.

Sunday Update - Week 27
Well, hello again. Welcome back. Grab a cup of coffee and set yourself down a spell.
In the writing sphere, I finished the pretty pink, line by line edits on Sleeping Ugly on Friday, as scheduled (which felt like a major win for me lately - hitting a deadline). Next up, the deep content suggestions my editor made. And some tweaking of my own. Still on target for having this ready no later than Wednesday. I'm looking at an August 29th release date.
I'm currently working with my cover artist for SU's cover. We've got some good ideas and a cool cover model picked out. I'm sure she'll make it awesome.
I read 7 books last week, too. Crankin' and spankin'. And no DNFs. Yay.
And I got a boatload of work from pay-job. I'll have that done by Monday morning.
On the activity front, I did 5 out of 7 days (6 if you count watering the gardens as something active). Still no more weight lost. But shot day is Tuesday, so fingers crossed that helps.
We're still only seeing one fawn. Little Prince has two almost solid stripes of spots down either side of his neck, so it's easy to confirm that every time we glimpse a fawn, it's him. I picked up another water pan for the deer. It's been so hot and so dry they're chugging the water down and we have to fill the one pan we had three times a day. So, I got another one. They're still getting used to the newness in the yard, but Little Prince wet right to it and drank his fill. The others will get there, too.
This weather is crapping out my gardens, even with the every-other-day watering I'm doing. Rain! We need Raaiinn! We had thunderstorms roll through yesterday evening and not a freakin' drop. Bleh. It's supposed to get a tad cooler next week, so there's that. Too little too late probably. =o\
Well, that's all from me, folks. What's up with you?

Thursday This n That
Welcome to the first day of March. Onward!
I went fishing Monday. Because of all the rain, the lake is muddy and has stuff floating on it. So, there I am, standing on the bank and casting a lure when I see something swimming by about 5 ft off the bank and shallow enough its top fin was sticking out above the water. At first, I thought it was a pike because I've seen pike swimming in the shallows before. Then I noticed it had a weird nose. Then I saw it had big spots on and near its tail. Paddlefish? Those things can get huge and this was only a couple feet long, so maybe a baby paddlefish? But paddlefish don't have spots. Hmm... Sturgeon? Nah. I did my best to memorize the fish and went on about my fishing. Later, I determined it was a gar. Either a shortnose gar (which we aren't supposed to have here, but ya never know) or an alligator gar. I'm kinda glad I didn't catch it. I'm not prepared for catching a gar. Those things have rows of wicked teeth and a testy temperament. Anyway, the poor thing did not look like it was feeling well. All that mud in the water probably drove it shallow so it could breath.
I also saw something huge splashing in the river. That could've been a paddlefish or a big catfish. Like I said, it's hard to breath in all that mud.
We had like 7+ inches of rain last month making it the wettest February on record for this area. It's not quite as bad as last April/May but if we get too much more rain, it will be quite floody around here again. Our wet weather creek was running quite well. I love the sound it makes.
Speaking of sound, the spring peepers are awake and singing. I love spring peepers.
I got my edits for Early Grave back from the AWE yesterday. Woohoo! This book is gonna be awesome. I'll start on them today. Back to her by the 16th, back from her again around April 6th? That should put the release day around the 20th of April. Good lord willin' and the crick don't rise.
Anyway, that's it for me today. What's on your this n that radar today?

Sunday Update - Week 5
Five weeks in, people. How are those resolutions coming along?
But enough about that. Let's get to the weekly update...
I got the editing pass done on Early Grave and sent it off to the AWE. She sent me back Blink of an I. (Not in that order.) And I did get started on the final editing stuffs for Blink, really I did. I just didn't make much progress. To tell you the truth, this book still scares me. I will shake it off and finish this for publication on or around the 21st as promised, though. Probably with a mad flurry of work at the end there, if I don't get off my dead ass.
In reading news, I'm still making progress on Shogun. As I said, big book, tiny-tiny font. I'm approaching 500 pages, though, so that's something. It is a really interesting and enjoyable read, which is why I'm committed to finishing it. I have about ten books waiting on my Kindle for when I ever do. This is the first year I can remember where I haven't read an entire book before Feb 1st. :gasp: I think maybe a goal of 70 books was thinking too big this year. We'll see.
I spent about 3 hours doing our taxes yesterday. Off they went and that's done for another year.
No fishing. Although I am hearing tales of people catching fish out there.
Got my shot Wednesday, so I'm good for not being a psycho for another 3 months. (Well, not any more psycho than usual. LOL)
Our woods project is nearing the end. Unless we get a wild hair and decide to go beyond the set target area. I'm not jazzed about tackling the steeper part of the hill, though. This is another 'we'll see'. The two log piles we've created look like beaver dams. Or funeral pyres. I joked with Hubs that if I die, I want him to throw my body on one and light it. Like Darth Vadar. Or a Viking funeral on dry land.
And on that note, I'll let you get back to your day. How'd your last week go?
