Marketing Monday

Today, I'm on the ball and have scheduled a freebie for FERTILE GROUND.  Yay!  Get it while it's hot.

Yes, it's about the hunt for a serial rapist.  No, it's not graphic.  And it has a really satisfying end.  Nothing to fear here.

Anyway...

Blogger's being a turd and won't let me upload pictures to this damn thing again.  So here's the verbiage...

Now through Friday, FERTILE GROUND is free. (Always free with Kindle Unlimited.) Get your copy of this spine-tingling suspense today! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FOPNE9Y

And there'll be a pretty graphic I made to post along with the verbiage and the link, with text and a picture and junk.

I swear, between Blogger being a booger and FB being a turd, I'm lucky if I sell anything.  I really need to suck it up and pay for advertising.

Thursday This n That

Welcome to 2025, day two.  It's early, but the coffee is hot and it is strong.

I cancelled the Brightspeed internet.  Yay and squee.  Man, that was almost as bad as dial-up and that was on a good day.  No wonder its initials are BS.  Then again, so are mine. :gigglesnort:

I started playing poker again.  My old account is still valid and so's all the money I still had in there.  It's like 96 million.  None of it real, of course.  If I had 96 million for realsies, I would probably be doing something else right now.  Like sleeping on a pile of dollar bills or something.  Hey, it could happen.  Not to me, but it could happen.

Oh, before I forget, FERTILE GROUND starts its freebie thing today.  I probably should do something about marketing for that.  After the coffee kicks in.

ETA: Here's the marketing post for FG

FREE now through Tuesday, 1/6 - FERTILE GROUND. Get your copy today! (Always free with Kindle Unlimited.) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FOPNE9Y

Sawyer's doing this thing where he comes in at 3am and is obnoxious.  Which is why I'm up at the buttcrack of early.  Scratch that.  He was being obnoxious at 2:30 and I shut him in the office.  Then Finn was obnoxious at 3 and after about 10 minutes of trying to wrangle him into the office, I gave up and got up.  By the way, they're both sleeping now.  They're turds, but I love them.

...

I was doing this post and got distracted for a half hour.  Derp.  It's still early, but not quite as early, and now I need more coffee.

...

Okay, I'm easily distracted, so I'll let you go.  Have a great day, wherever you are.  And if you feel the urge, drop some this n that stuff in the comments.

Thursday This n That

Dang, I missed Thursday again.  That sucker just flew past with no regard for my blog.  Ah, well.  Better late than never.  I really had intended to do better this year.  Derp.

I read a FB comment this morning where someone was saying how much they enjoyed a particular suspense novel and, at the end, they said 'may contain triggers for some people'.  Ummm... I would reckon that everything contains a trigger for some people.  I would also reckon that if a book contains nothing that would make anyone uncomfortable, it's not a very interesting book.  Jus' sayin'.

I wrote a book about a serial rapist - FERTILE GROUND.  Did I put trigger warnings on it?  Nope.  It's right there in the blurb.  For the record, though, the book contains no actual rape scenes.  I didn't feel the need to be explicit in order to keep the pedal to the metal on the suspense.  And I made the end ultra-satisfying.  Well, I found it satisfying.  :evil grin:

This entire week has been one big slam-fest at work.  I thought I was busy before, but this week made a lie out of that.  I drank a pot of coffee yesterday just to keep up.  Man, I was flyin'.  Woohoo.  Too much more of that and I might actually turn into diffuse ball of charged particles.  So, if I disappear and you just see a glow hovering over SW Missouri, that's me.

Huh, I just noticed it's Friday the 13th.  Make sure you leave milk and cookies out for Jason Voorhies.  Eh, I'm not a suspicious sort, but it fun to joke about.  Of course, if today turns out to suck, I can blame the date. LOL

I actually got to use my writing skills this week.  A big important letter needed to go out and they handed it to me to edit.  I took the general gist of it and rewrote it (after I told the original creator I was going to rewrite it and got his okee-dokee.)  I received much praise for the end result.  Yay.

For the record, everything I say I've done, I've actually done.  Jus' sayin'.  And yeah, I know... many of the things I've done were a couple decades ago.  I must be rusty, but I still have the chops.

Okay, I should probably wrap this up and go about my day, so you can go about yours.  Have a great one!

Thursday This n That

Me: Crap.  Is it Thursday?
Hubs:  Yep.

Of course, I knew today would be Thursday when I sent my timesheet to the office last night, but upon waking this morning, I had no clue.  Wednesday was a wash.  So was Tuesday, I guess, since I don't remember it at all.

We're getting at least a couple dozen birds at a time at the feeders these past few days.  Juncos, cardinals, blue jays, white-crowned sparrows, fox sparrows, crows, nuthatches, woodpeckers (downy, hairy, red-breasted, and piliated), Carolina wrens, and one lost-looking, lonely goldfinch.  The sparrows are singing, which gives me a happy.

We're also getting inundated with deer right now.  Both this and the above are due to the cold and the snow and the fact that finding food on their own is harder than coming here for a free meal.  Moochers.  Heh.

Fertile Ground is on sale now.  I made a pretty graphic and what I think is a grabby blurb to use in my marketing posts.  You can see it over at Outside the Box.  Here's hoping it gains me some sales.

Hubs, bless his heart, thought about contacting our elderly neighbors to see how they've been faring in all this.  Their pipes froze and they'd been without water for 3 days.  Derp.  Hubs to the rescue.  We've been storing extra water for a while now and have added to the stash quite a bit in recent days, so we took jugs to them to tide them over until they could get their water running again.  (With a reminder for them to call us if that stuff runs out so we can give them more.)  We saw a plumber dude over there yesterday, so here's hoping he could do something.  With the temps the way they've been I expect their whole system is frozen solid.  =o(

I'm over 30 million in poker now.  Yeah, I know... stop playing poker and get back to work.  I would if I could, but I can't seem to muster the will right now.

How are the this-n-thats in your world today?

Merry Christmas Eve. Here's a Present.

Since my writing is really the only gift I have to give, starting today the book that started it all, DYING EMBERS, is free.  (And the other two SCIU books - FERTILE GROUND and EARLY GRAVE - are only 99c.)

DE is free through Saturday.  FG and EG are on sale through Monday night.  Grab one or grab them all.  If you already have them, thank you so much.  Your support means the world to me.  I wish I had a prezzie to give you, too.  :hugs:

Merry Christmas to you and all of your loved ones.  Here's to a Happy New Year for us all.

Sunday Update - Week 36

How did it get to be Sunday again already?  Arrgghh.

Let's not talk about writing, shall we?

I have another sale starting Tuesday with advertising going out Thursday.  Dying Embers will be the advertised sale at 99c/99p.  The other two books, Fertile Ground and Early Grave, will be $1.99 (or the UK equivalent) each.  Whether I get much chance to market these on FB will depend on our justice system and how long this jury thing lasts.

Did a fair amount of reading.  Finished 4, DNF'd 3.

More granola bars were made.

On the activity front, 6 out of 7 days.  More cleaning and walking.  One day of grocery shopping, which I counted this time around because... well... you try pushing a cart with a 24 pack of water, three big jugs of apple juice, two big jugs of orange juice, and a week's worth of other groceries around Wallyworld.  And the cart didn't want to make right turns.  Ugh.  If that wasn't burning calories, I don't know what would be.

No fishing.  With the holiday weekend, I didn't want to be anywhere near the lake.  And then it was too freakin' hot and I had stuffs to do in the mornings.  =o\

The fawns are losing their spots and growing.  A few are about 2/3 size of the does now.  The other day we had 10 does and 7 fawns in the yard.  It's a bumper crop.  Yay.

I got my files backed up.  If you haven't backed up lately, this might be a reminder.  :poke:

And that's it for me.  Not a whole lot going on in Sandersonville.  How about your ville?

Sunday Update - Week 6

Howdy.

Last week.  Let's see...

I just did the math and I ended week 6 with 7215 words written on Wish Hits the Fan for a total of 15089.  I would've gotten more out last night, but I needed to do some research to make it make sense.  Now it makes sense.  And it ties back to earlier in the story arc when I mentioned something that was never address to this point.  Ah, the things my subconscious mind layers in that I have to later figure out what the hell I was thinking.

I've been working on some marketing to go along with tomorrow's 2-year anniversary of Dying Ember being published.  I have one ad going out today with Reading Deals and another one going out tomorrow with Booktastik.  I'll let you know how those go.  Oh, and both Dying Ember and Fertile Ground are on sale for 99c/.99p today through the 18th.  Spread it around.

After the reel debacle, I had some success fishing on Friday and Saturday.  No keepers, but bass are always fun to catch.  Now, I'd like to catch something I can eat.  I needs me some fresh fish in my belly.

The reading has, once again, slacked off as I concentrate more on my writing.  I started a book and DNF'd it.  The characters were irritating me.  Then I started Julie Seedorf's Granny Hooks a Crook (which is apparently the 2nd book... Derp.).  It's really fun, but I haven't gotten back to it in a few days.

It was 82 degrees F here yesterday.  =oO

Oh, and I got some books in the mail last week.  In Defense of Selfishness by Peter Schwartz and some Viking novel a friend had recommended (to round me up to $25 for free shipping).  I only ordered books because Amazon had sent me an email saying I'd get a $10 Kindle credit if I bought a non-fiction title.  So I did.  Then I didn't get the credit.  So I contacted Amazon via their chat help thingie.  The person insisted I got no such email.  I gave them all the particulars and then offered to forward them the email.  They gave me the credit.  Damn straight.  Well, supposedly.  They said I won't 'see' the credit anywhere.  It'll just be applied when I place an order.  I haven't done that yet, so we'll see.

That's it for me.  How was your 6th week of 2017?

Worldwide Cover and Blurb Reveal - Fertile Ground (S.C.I.U. #2)

No consent required.
Adam Wyte has been nothing special his entire life, but everyone will remember him once his mission is complete. His diabolical plan to sow his seed and reap sons is so far along, no one can stop him now. And his carefully chosen list of women will help him—whether they want to or not.

Justice is essential.
With the shadow of Jace Douglas’ success hanging over her, Agent Teri Buchanan transferred away from the S.C.I.U. headquarters intent on proving she’s as good as the next woman. And if moving to the Detroit branch also lets her bury the memories of her own attack, even better. When her first assignment means hunting down a serial rapist turned killer, she can’t let her fears interfere with her job. Even if she ends up confronting a need to carry out more justice than she ever received.

This is not available for pre-order yet.  I plan to have it loaded to Amazon on the 16th.  Meanwhile, head on over to Goodreads and Want to Read it.

Sunday Update - Week 15

Okay, so it's Week 15.  Week 3 times 5. Week 30 divided by 2.  Whatever.  Here we are again.

I finished this edit pass on Fertile Ground yesterday and sent it off to the Awesome Wonderful Editor.  She'll have it back to me by the 1st.

I have the cover done.  It follows the same general feeling of Dying Embers now.  Yay.  I'll show it off in my newsletter at the end of this month.  Have you subscribed to the newsletter yet?  There'll be a snippet of the book in there, too.

Since I was pretty much all about getting Fertile Ground done, I don't have much else to report.

Oh, I saw a bald eagle on Friday!  I thought they'd all already gone north, but nope.  There's still at least one around here.

This week, I will get back to work on my bathroom.  Tomorrow, I'll finish patching and caulking. I'll probably also start taping things off.  Haven't quite figured out what I'm going to do about the damn mirror.  The bathroom has a huge mirror covering most of one wall from the counter to the light bar, and all the whatchamadoodles that hold it to the wall are clear, so I have to paint behind them without getting paint on them or without trying to move that whole big sheet of glass.  (Because moving the mirror will definitely result in mirror breakage.  I know me.)  I'm thinking I'll remove one thingie and paint behind it, wait for it to dry, move another thingie, etc.  Or maybe move every other thingie and paint behind all those so I don't have to wait so much.  We'll see.  If you hear the sound of shattering glass, my idea didn't go so well.  ;o)

And that's about it for me today.  How's things with you?
