Shoot me now

My query letter is killing me. Yeah, I know. I already wrote it. I feel the need to rewrite it, because it, like, blows. Feel free to shoot me now.

ETA:  I got it.  It took most of the day, on and off, of me beating my head on the desk.  Funny thing was, though, I was taking a nap and the new angle woke me up.  It needed work, but in the end, I really like what I produced.  =o)

Oh, and I deleted the head-bashing gif.  It was giving me a headache.  ;o)

  1. Try putting it on the QueryTracker.net forum. Lots of nice people there, and they might give you new ideas. It's hard when you've looked at it toooooooo long.

  3. Yep, this is tough. I'm so glad you got a shiny new idea while you were sleeping! That's awesome.

  4. Hi! I'm a new follower. I have very recently been through query hell, so I feel you there. What I ended up doing was writing my query from the POV of my main character, just to get the voice right, then changed it to third person. Then I let it sit for a few days while I researched agents. Taking a little breather from it was helpful.

  5. Thanks for the suggestion, Deb. I think I got it, but I'll give that a looksee. =o)

Thanks commiseration Jennifer and Julie. It felt really good yesterday, but I'm doubting myself today.

Welcome to the blog, Alexia. I'll have to try that suggestion out - especially since the book is in first. Trying to get Jo's voice right is part of the problem. =o)
