Sunday Update - Week...

...oh god don't make me go look up the week #. It's the next week and almost midway through the year.  But I'm too tired to even guess at it.

I don't think there's enough coffee on the planet to get me going this morning.  Ugh.

So anyhoo, here's what's been happening...

I have Wish in One Hand pretty much edited and now I'm just waiting for the proofer to get back from a trip. Which means I have about ten days to work on Natural Causes.

I'm up to about 15K words on NC.

I have the final cover art for WIOH.  It rocks.  Everything should be a go to launch this book in August as planned.

Tomorrow on Outside the Box, I'll talk about the results from my latest two advertising adventures.  I've submitted Accidental Death for advertising at Ereader News Today, but I haven't heard back from them yet, so I don't know if they'll accept it or turn me down flat.

I saw an otter yesterday.

Tropical Depression Bill dumped about 4 inches of rain here.  Everything is floody.  The river is the color of cocoa.  (Real cocoa made with melted chocolate - not dry mix.)  I did, however, successfully make it to Walmart yesterday as the flooding is all north of here and Walmart is to the south.  Yay.

I made a batch of Apple-Cranberry Bread.  Click the link to see the recipe I use.

In reading news, I finally got around to reading The Nothing by Kerry Schafer.  It totally rocked and I wish I'd made the time to read it when it hit my Kindle.  I also beta read an awesome romantic suspense, but I can't talk about that yet.  Now I'm reading the first Sookie Stackhouse novel by Charlaine Harris.  It's okay, but it's not blowing my skirt up yet.

What's up in your world?

  1. Sending you a huge cup of coffee...

Yay for all your progress! You got a LOT done. I look forward to reading about your advertizing results.

How cool you saw an otter!!! I'm envious.

I was disappointed with the Sookie Stackhouse novels I read. Sooo not my thing, but I'm not sure why.

I'm still rattling along on 3C. Up to chapter 6 now. Yay! And the print proof came in for 1C. The cover image needs a little work, but overall I'm pleased. I might release it in August, too. Still working on my marketing plan. (Slow going, that. I hate promotion. ;)

    1. Thanks, Deb! I needed all the coffee I could get yesterday. The advertising results are up over at Outside the Box.

Yeah, this one isn't blowing my skirt up still. But it's catchy enough that I'm reading it all.

Yay for your progress!! Marketing plan? At least you have one of those. I can market. Plan? Not so much.

  2. I feel your need for coffee! And it is Midsummer's Day, Summer Solstice, First Day of Summer. Go figure. I never have figured it all out. I really need to make time to read Book 2 AND 3 of Kerry's trilogy. I loved the first one but just haven't been in the mood. Sad, I know. I'll enjoy them so I don't know why I'm putting it off. Maybe I'll take them to read on the plane when I fly to NY next month.

Yay on WIOH! Can't wait for it!

Glad you only got 4 inches. We missed the brunt of Bill but he hammered the state just east of us.

I enjoyed the Sookie books up to the point Sookie turned out to be fae. The series jumped the shark for me at that point and I stopped reading.

I'm taking today off after my big push in DOUBLE CROSS. Bright and early tomorrow morning, I start back in on RDR#3. Right now? Cards vs. Phillies.

    1. Missed the solstice all together. Kinda like Father's Day. Yes, yes, you do need to make time to read those. Bill hit north of us and east of us pretty hard, too. I read your comment about Sookie yesterday morning and then reading the book I could see that maybe she was setting it up that way, but I can see how that would jump the shark. I hope you had an awesome day off.

  3. I had a good weekend making quilt blocks, fiddly ones too that required real precision cutting - and I hate that - but they look great so yay for me. Helped a friend pick up a sofa she won on ebay and was grateful I wasn't lifting it - huge and very heavy.

I read up to book 6 or 7 on the Sookie's but got bored and didn't bother after that and I didn't bother watching True Blood. I much preferred her series about the lass who was hit by lightning and then found she could sense dead bodies, Grave Surprise I think was the first.

In reading I'm up to book 34 in my In Death series re-read marathon. Really enjoying it too but will be looking for something different any time now.

    1. Yay for you, Fran! I can't precision cut anything. And yay for not having to actually lift the sofa. I hadn't heard about her other series. I may check it out. I have so much to read, though, and so little time. Wow, I didn't know there were so many books in the In Death series. Gah.

Good luck finding your next read. =o)

  4. Congrats on your writing successes and seeing an otter!! Horray for the bread! Sounds really good (and I may just use your recipe - I've only ever made banana bread before).
I wish you luck on the Stackhouse books. I loathed Sookie. She was just... awful. My personal opinion of course!
