All Gone

The mashed potatoes went first, and it was all downhill from there.  The pumpkin cheesecake is gone.  The cranberry sauce is kaput.  The stuffing went bye-bye.  The turkey has been reduced to two piddlin', mostly-empty bags of white and dark.

A lot of the turkey ended up as something new - turkey and dumplings, turkey potpie, turkey in gravy.  In that respect, we still have a bunch of that left.  Leftovers of leftovers.

It's all very sad.

Today, for the first time in a week, we will have beef.  Hamburgers.  Maybe spaghetti.

And with that, it's time to get back to some semblance of normalcy.  Until the next holiday - in three weeks.

Do you have any Thanksgiving leftovers left?  Are you sick of turkey yet?  What's for dinner tonight?

  1. I'm British so we don't have Thanksgiving, but after Christmas I love having turkey curry, cold turkey & chips, and last year I even made a turkey chilli. It's all the work / friends functions in the run up to Christmas that get me bored with turkey, so I try to change it up a bit and have a veggie option now & again.

  2. We're all about the turkey sandwiches and pie, which is why I only roast a turkey breast and make a pie, or two. And cinnamon rolls, with leftover dough for hot rolls to go with dinner for awhile. I haven't decided dinner tonight. Probably either pot roast or chili. Depends on when I get out to get to the store.

  3. I did have leftovers, but dumped them. Figured a week old was old enough. :)

  4. We don't celebrate Thanksgiving over here, but I'm looking forward to a similar meal at Christmas and love all the leftovers.
