Sunday Update - Week 42

10 weeks left in 2014.  OMG, I have so much to do.  In addition, just 2 weeks left until NaNo.

:panics a little:

This past week, I didn't do much of anything - which is mostly the reason for the mini-panic.

My edit notes for WT are still sitting right beside me (under the ashtray right now) untouched.  I need to jump on those today if I want to have them done by Halloween night.

I only made a little progress in researching stuff for my NaNo novel.  OMG, I don't remember leMorte d'Arthur being this damn dull.

I did make progress on my next set of edit notes for a dystopian I wrote years ago.  But I could be farther along.

The only place I really made progress was my reading goals.  I read 4 books in the past week.  And they were all awesome.  Always a good thing.

In other news, I took a walk around the yard yesterday snapping pictures of things I thought were pretty.  Like this:

And this:
And this:

I can't wait for the fall colors to really pop here so I can take more shots.  Nothing like a walk with the camera for relaxation.  Even if sometimes, the shot doesn't turn out the way I want and you can hear me swearing under my breath.  ;o)

So, did you do anything this week?  How's your panic meter for the last 10 weeks of 2014?

  1. Gotta stop panicking. It doesn't do any good (it's certainly not healthy). If I've been bad by procrastinating, I just have to withhold something (like watch my favorite TV show or READ), until I get my act back together. Is it working? Well... Haha! :) At least I'm not panicking. If I don't reach my goal (of finishing the first draft of my project by Thanksgiving), then what's gonna happen? Not much, I'm sure. Except that I'll be disappointed in myself and maybe that will spur me to do better next time!

So yeah, I didn't reach my goal last week of writing 10K words. I only wrote 4K. But hey, I wrote. And I got some logistics stuff worked out. I'm hoping that as I get farther into my story, it will become easier to write and I'll make up some of that lost word count. Gotta look at the positive! :)

    1. Don't worry, Stacy, it's not really panic. I'm not a panicker. And I know I'll get done what I want to get done, and if I don't get it done, I must not have wanted it that bad. All of these things are self-imposed deadlines anyway. Now, if I had a real deadline where I had promised a publisher I'd be done by a certain date, then I'd bust my butt to get it done.

Good for you on the 4K! Definitely look on the positive!

  2. I love the photos!

I'm with Stacy, panic just slows me down. But I have less reason to feel stressed, since I'm not doing NaNo. I do want to finish the final draft of AMM:1870s by Halloween, though. I'm more than halfway done. :-)

    1. Thanks, Deb!

Eh, stress usually fires me up. You can get this draft done! Go you!

  3. I basically took the weekend off. Yesterday was RWA chapter meeting. Great program with the VP and Marketing Director of Draft2Digital, which works with indie authors to get their books formatted and uploaded to various sales channels. I'll be using them in the future. Today, I'm just vegging after doing a tiny bit of housekeeping.

I deserve it. Last week was balls to the wall and that's okay. The life of a writer is filled with frenetic insanity broken up by moments of procrastination. I''ve got my NaNo novel set but I can't be idle for two weeks so I'm working on the start of the composite novel in the series, MOONSTRUCK: Secrets. MOON SHOT will get it's due come November. In the meantime, a headstart on the next project before I get my next assignment from Harlequin.

Now get to work! (Even though one of those books you red was mine and you rock! ;) )

    1. Good for you, Silver. You earned a couple days off. Now, back to work. Which is what I'm telling myself. And I'll have to look into Draft2Digital - you know, just in case...

I don't rock. You rock. Look at all the stuff you juggle. Criminy.

  4. Hello! It sounds like you've had a lot of fun the last week. I would love to read four books. Nothing wrong with that :) Good luck with NaNo prep. I have a lot going on, but all fun stuff, so not too panicked about the end of the year. At least for now :)
