This n That n The Other Thing

I've been cranking so hard to finish Bloodflow that I am a total scatterbrain.  When I'm not deep in the world of government intrigue, I'm wallowing in downtime. Thus, my sporadic posting lately.

Hubs and I have been in deep talks about stuff I don't feel comfortable sharing yet.  I can tell you this: Our marriage is still awesome, we still aren't ever talking about babies, and we still love our home.  Also, it's nothing to worry about.  Just stuff I'd rather not make public yet.

I cut my own hair.  After successively bad haircuts, I finally had enough.  The last haircut wasn't too bad, but she left my bangs too long and the sides too long, so I went after my head with a pair of scissors.  I'm still snipping uneven bits here and there when I see them, but all in all, I'm pleased with the look.  I think it looks sassy and hey, at least it's out of my face.  Ugh, I can't stand hair in my face.  The last hairdresser was all like 'you can tuck it behind your ears'.  I actually hate that worse than hanging in my face.

My fawn, Elias (aka Big Boy) lost his spots.  It makes me kinda melancholy when we reach the point where the fawns are spot-free.  Leftover mother junk from sending the Kid off into the world, I guess.

I spent yesterday morning cleaning out the refrigerator.  Yuck.  But it has to be done from time to time.  Now it's all shiny and new looking again. Yay.

I've also been spending time shredding old manuscript pages.  By hand.  We have a shredder, but it only takes like 5 pages at a time and I can rip through way more pages than that on my own.  It also helps that I used to do this for a living when I worked for a medical record copy service.  No one hand shreds paper like I do, baby.  I have one tall kitchen garbage bag almost full and about a dozen chapters left to rip.  (Of course, that's not counting the new pile I'm making, but let's take care of one pile at a time, shall we.)

Your turn.  Tell me your this n that.  Or just tell me how you dispose of printed manuscript pages no one should ever ever read again.  Or whether you've cut your own hair.  How often do you wash out your refrigerator?

  1. I can spend $70 and be gorgeous, but salon hair only lasts a few days at best.
Unless I have someplace special to go, I save the $$ and cut my own.

We're still in a holding pattern on so many things and that's torture to someone like me who has to keep moving forward.

  2. Smart lady. I hesitated to cut my own hair for so long because I was afraid I'd screw it up, but since I was paying other people to screw up my hair anyway, I figured 'what have I got to lose?'

Sorry about your holding pattern, Maria. All my fingers crossed that you can move forward again soon. :hugs:

  3. I'm on your side regarding hair. They never cut the fringe short enough so I have to do it myself. It might end up looking like steps but at least its out of my eyes - and I'd rather stick it up in a ponytail than put it behind my ears all day long.

As for the fridge, its on my to-do list and has been for a while now. I'll get around to it when you authors stop publishing books I want to read. My total for this year so far is 151 new books and 48 re-reads.

When I not reading I'm sewing or knitting, so cleaning tends to drop down the priority list.

    1. Since the one gal butchered my head back in May, my hair has been too short to put in a ponytail, Fran. But I think I finally have it at a length I like, so I can live without being able to put it up. And I usually cut my own bangs between haircuts anyway.

Wow, you've really read a lot this year. I don't blame you for not getting the fridge cleaned. Frankly, mine was driving me nuts - which is why stuff usually gets cleaned when it does. LOL

  4. I had the best hairdresser in the world. I'd walk in, tell her to have fun, and walk out about 45 minutes later perfectly happy. Then she got divorced, signed up for an on-line sugar daddy dating site, hooked one, and moved to Florida. :-P Now my hair is too long but I'm not quite to the point where I feel comfortable cutting it because of the style. That said, I'm also considering taking hair clippers with the longest toothed comb I can find and just running those puppies through it to see what happens. My hair grows fast enough it wouldn't be a disaster for long. LOLOL

I love being a grandmother but not so much a full time babysitter. I'm ready to have "me time" back so I can like...you know...actually WORK!

I have the latest JD Robb book on my Kindle (and the hardback sitting on my desk) but refusing to read until I finish the reread of my Moonstruck series so I can finish the edits on BLUE MOON. I hear you on the government conspiracy. I discovered something in the first draft that will devastate Hannah.

Aaaaannndddd....Sprout just woke up. *headdesk* Later gator.
