For reasons I can't go into online, the explanation of the saga has been redacted. Suffice it to say, the previous owners of this place did something half-assed and now we're having to go back and make it right. So....
I know I said this before, but please PLEASE if you're doing work on your home, do it right. Get it done by professionals with references if you can't do it yourself and do it right. Get Mike Holmes to come inspect it for you if you have to. (Or some reasonable facsimile of a competent contractor.) But for petesakes, do it right. I know most people probably don't care about the people who might own the home after they leave. Don't think about them. Think about what you might have to go through if you have to fix it - if you did it wrong in the first place.
It's always easier in the long run, to do things right the first time. Seriously.
And as a friend pointed out, once this is done, it will be done right and will last for years to come. I just wish they'd done it right to begin with.
