Sunday Update - Week 18

Eighteen weeks into 2014?  Where did those months go?  Holy crap.  April felt like a total wash.  March was consumed with my trip to Florida.  February?  Who even remembers back that far anymore?  I think I was writing in January...

So here we are in the month of May.  I still have to wrap up April, though, and get this party month* started.

Let's see...

The big news is that I'm writing again.  I promised myself I would take May and do some kind of warped NaNo type thing.  44K words in 31 days.  (44 because I'll turn 44 this month.)  So far, I've written every day of May.  It's early yet, but I can do this.  And maybe it'll be the kick in the pants I've needed.

In home improvement stuff, the Hubs is almost done with the insulation project.  That huge pile of stuff in the garage that Max was using as the world's biggest kitty-bed is down to 4 rolls of R30 unfaced, 4 bats of R30 faced 16", and 1 bat of R30 faced 24".  It's nice not having to wear socks - the floors were really cold, but now they're not.

I'm working on the pea gravel project.  We got 6-7 yards of pea rock piled in the driveway with the plan to put it underneath the deck and the sun room and in a perimeter around the house.  Before we can put it anywhere, thought, we have to prep the space, and with Hubs wrapped up in insulation, I'm shouldering the workload on the prep.  I also took this pile of flat pseudo rocks (concrete shaped into rock forms) that I found in the woods, and made a neat patterned border along the edge of the underside of the deck.  I ran out of those a lot quicker than I thought, so I'm using just flat-ish rocks I have laying around.  It looks quite nice, if you ask me.

What were you up to last week?  Anything fun on the agenda for May?

*Not really.

  2. Finished up the revise of Cowgirl series book 2 proposal chapters yesterday. Today is figure out the timeline because ages have to fit events/time lapse. Dang it. And then it's on to revamping the synopsis and sending it back to Mr. HEd tonight. I'll print out the faerie novella and do first round of revisions/edits on it while stuck in the time suck called jury duty. Plus reading three more contest books.

Happy birthday month. I think we should party all month long! And I'm so glad you're writing again! :D

    1. You'll get it all figured out, Silver. Ugh, just reading all the things you have to do, though, makes me tired.

Thanks! LOL, my idea of partying these days is getting really engrossed in a good book or hitting my stride and writing a bunch of words. Woohoo!

  3. I'm glad you're writing again and I love the idea of 44k words for your birthday =) I'm going to be honest though, it still weirds me out when I learn peoples ages because so many of my closest writing friends are my mum's age or older! Mum turns 44 in June!

I want pictures of these projects. My inner OCD monster is pleased with your progress, LOL!

This is completely random but I've been meaning to ask you (and anyone else who watches NCIS), but what do you think of Bishop?

    1. Thanks, Nat. It is pretty awesome. LOL about the age thing. Yep, I am older than your mom. (Physically. Mentally? let's not go there.)

I keep forgetting to take 'before' pics - which would make the 'after' pics more exciting.

Ugh. I haven't watched NCIS in a couple years at least. My interest petered off about the same time as the whole Mexico thing.

  4. May means spring clean-up around here and there's lots in the plans for this year. My writing group is also having a May writing challenge so am using that to finish up my wip, blurb, and synopsis. Leave for a little road trip tomorrow with some other gals to see Jann Arden (singer/songwriter). Yay!

Happy to hear your BIC HOK TAM ing it is May and happy Birthday!!

    1. Sounds like you're a busy gal this month, Karyn. Good luck with your clean up and the writing challenge and the road trip.

Thanks! And I know what BICHOK means, but what's the TAM stand for?

  5. Yay for warped-NaNo! I'm glad you're writing again. Happy birthday, later on. :-)

I'm looking forward to photos of your yard. It sounds gorgeous!

I slowed down this week. A little editing, a little writing (maybe 1000 words). I'll blame my slowdown on visiting relatives. ;-)

    1. Thanks, Deb! And thanks for the birthday wishes. =o)

I really do need to take some more pics. The iris bed, especially. They're blooming like crazy since I moved them.

Hey, we all need a little slowdown now and then, even if it is because of visiting relatives. ;o)
